I do, but I'm not known for my financial restraint.
1x10 with a clutch mech is a great setup, and means easy availability of good parts if something breaks or wears out. And if you're buying a bike with a suspension fork, it really pays to get the best one you can afford imo. Especially if it gets you coated aluminium stanchions, rather than steel.

Good shout on the fork. That may be the clincher for me, as well as the nicer paint job...

Also looks a bit like this which can’t hurt:

My Manitou XVert forks feel like they bottom out if I’m really hard on them. Tried tightening the preload all the way, it’s stiff to turn anyway but feels at the limit.
Very plush ride and feel relatively snappy, but is there a kit to rebuild them or anything? Or even just a manual online to get me servicing properly? It says TPC+ all over the place.
Edit: by rebuild I mean, is there anything I can mod and/or upgrade to make more awesome?
Edit edit:
Just found these links

Yep, I sold mine recently. Quite a few Stache 5 owners fit a squishy fork so they do appear for sellz occasionally.

Also got a Cotic Soul 27.5/650b for sale atm. Duck egg blue, medium 135mm QR dropouts. Rockshox Revelation 140mm air lockout 15x100 etc, Hope headset, BX dropper, new style SLX cranks with Absolute Black 34T red oval ring, XT brakes, Deore 10spd shifter, XT clutch rear mech, XT 11-36 cassette, Miche hubs on Stans Arch EX rims running Tubeless Maxxis Shorty tyres (v good). Specialized risers 780mm with Specialized 45mm stem. Bontrager saddle.
Absolutely brilliant trail bike but I just never get the chance to use it. Everything bought new for the custom build in November 2017 (apart from the saddle and wheels). Wheels were bought from a friend who had them from new himself and had seen very little use when I got them. Strava tells me I've only used it for 125 miles in total since then.
PM me if interested for pricing/pics etc. Ta.

Can anyone see any massive barriers to upgrade on the cheaper Nucleus VR? Old standards etc
-
• #12859
Not as such. Both of the frames are 135 qr, by the looks of it. The fork on the VR isn't boost, which may mean you have to adapt or swap your wheel if you do upgrade to a new fork. It's obviously compatible with any 10 or 11 speed shimano kit, but you'd be basically starting from scratch.

Fork says Boost but...
Front Hub: KT, 32H, 100x15mm
Some part of the description is wrong.

• #12861
It's boost on the MBR press release

Just been having a browse through mtbs in my local shop - mostly whytes. Is it just me or do the massive 1x dinner plates look a bit ridiculous? Are there any that don’t? Do people still run 2x these days?

Are there any that don’t?
10 - 42 on a 29er looks fine

• #12864
I reckon dinner plate cogs are driving the trend towards 29ers; more ground clearance for the rear mechs.

- 1 on this, sunrace 10spd 42t is a great cassette

They were all 27.5’ers. What’s current thinking on 29 vs 27.5? I fancy a 27.5 but I think it’s only because it’s different to my other bikes. And ‘chuckable’.

The wheels somehow look tiny, are you a giant?
-
• #12870
29"x2.4" on an 18" frame. It's probably perspective, or down to the fork (140mm travel) being a bit long for the frame.
-
• #12871
Must be the fork as on my bike of similar dimensions (29x2.25 and 18”) the wheels look far bigger, to me that is.
