Sram brakes are a complete PITA to setup/bleed/maintain.
Since Guide / Code / Level they are much improved.

embrace shimano
Never!

Shimano brakes randomly alter their lever travel and have shit modulation.
Why is everyone so terrified of DOT fluid anyway? It's just glycol.

Anyone got a spare 34.9 seat post clamp?
-
• #12132
I have a nice Salsa Lip Lock one, in minty condition.
Edit - it's actually marked as 35.0, but I've found it interchangeable with my 34.9 Chromag QR clamp.

I've never had anything other than shimano deore brakes. Old ones from 2014 at that. They've never failed to stop me. I bled them last month, first time ever bleeding bike brakes, took me 30 mins to do both, and now they feel like new.

Let's have the brake discussion, everyone needs the brake discussion

Think I'll head over to the gravel thread, and talk about gear ratios....

53/39 11-23 or GTFO

I'm thinking of risking one of these for the front of a fixed pomp - I need both an adapter and a rotor, which separately would cost most of £20. This comes with free brakes thrown in...
Will I regret it?

Hmmm. Bit bubble like isn’t it. Something a bit squarer preferably. I’d like hope but an older one, not the new ones with the bolt that’s big enough to hold on a truck wheel.

• #12139
Dunno, wouldn't expect too much for £20 but I'd expect it to work.
Duckle the model number and see if there's been a recall etc.

Yes. Want. Would put on all my bikes.
Think BLB is the only UK stockist of Phil wood and they never have any stock -

Phil seatclamps are super ugly. Hope or Salsa.

They’re actually decent enough, the cheap tektro models are excellent as well (performance wise)

Great thanks. I don't want loads of power, just consistent and faff free. Let's see how it goes.

You forgot cheap. You want cheap too.
It will probably come down to picking two.

TBH it's not something I've ever struggled with.

Posted this in the stolen bikes section too, but worth sharing here as this is more bouncy bike focussed. Keep your eyes peeled!
Some bell-end nicked my mountain bike (GT Sanction) from my garage last Saturday night, 8th Sept. Near Victoria Park, Hackney, London. So keep your eyes peeled... it may appear built or as separate parts for sale - the whole thing was in pieces in my garage while I resprayed the frame that day. They took the lot.
The pic has been badly photoshopped to grey, as that’s the colour it now is, halfway through its sprayjob. Keep yer eyes peeled for something built up like this.
They must be planning on a rebuild as they returned the following night and nicked my f*cking workstand and tools! Luckily I’d moved all the other bikes that where locked in the garage, into the flat, so they were safe.... I recon they were coming back for those. However, it was completely in pieces - pivots, bushings, BB, gears brakes everything off for a full strip and rebuild. I doubt the thieving toe-rag(s) are gonna have a clue how to rebuild it, or the tools.
GT Sanction, size large. Matt grey. No stickers (i had new ones to apply post spraying :( )
Rock Shox Lyric 170mm Boost Forks
Rock Shox Monarch Plus Debonair rear shock
DT Swiss M1700 wheels
Full SRAM Eagle X01 (1x12) group set
SRAM Guide Ultimate brakes
DMR pedals
Flite Ti seat
Spank bars and stemI don’t hold out much hope of seeing it again. But worth a punt sharing on here.

As a noob, embrace shimano, or regret it.
