RE SRAM brakes being shite, anyone actually had any experience of this?
Yep. Avid Juicy 1s, I think, on my Rose DrZ as original fitment. Squeally, rubbing frictionless pieces of crap, horrible to work on and utterly useless as brakes. I'd prefer XT cantis any day. Not V-brakes. Cantis would be better.

Old Avid =/= new SRAM

Talking about SRAM designed / built Guides, Codes and Levels. I know a few people who have had problems with old Avid stuff and how it's best avoided.

This guy, full upper body armour, downhill lid, sports shorts and fatbike, commuting through green park early. Some gnarly dropoffs in that part of the city

They were a good upgrade from my old XT M785s. Those were very on/off

Turnkey damping, not really worth it. Save up and do it properly.

Most interesting thing I can find, albeit in the ten minutes of looking, is CRC having 100mm Rebas for £200.
Actually scrap that, on-one have 140mm Silver Recons with the motion control damper for £140.

motion control damper
I assume this is a good thing

It's not the turn key damper that @umop3pisdn disapproves of.
Note, these are steel stanchioned forks, so a bit porkier than their aluminium stanchioned cousins. And they'll need a good wipe down with an oily rag after wet rides. But they are not spendy and will do the job just fine.

How much are equivelamt Ali ones?
-
• #11973
At a guess, twice the price? Forks seem super spendy right now.

Picked up a BMC 29er frame off eBay last week. Originally spec'd with a 100mm Fox Float 32, so looking for something with no more than 120mm, tapered steerer and ideally QR so it can share wheelsets...
Wondering how the Raindon, Epicon, Axon etc compare with the RS and Fox ranges; Assuming the XCR is about equivalent to the RS 30 or 32 Gold.

I'd get the £200 Rebas from CRC. 100mm but that's OK. 15mm through axle though.
It's like you read my mind
