Sram brakes are honestly the worst.

I have a Nobby Nic/Racing Ralph tubeless combo you can have cheap. Might be a bit too lightweight for the style of bike you're building though.

RE SRAM brakes being shite, anyone actually had any experience of this?
Mine were fine. Only changed them because I wanted some jewellery and to standardise on Mineral oil across all bikes.

I meant to say Racing Ralph/Rocket Ron, as some free speed might be appreciated at Mayhem :-)

Unless it's a bogfest

Consider Vittoria too. I like my Barzos and they're a bit tougher than Schwalbe - rated on STW

I've had some SRAM Avid Juicy brakes for the last 2 years, not needed to bleed them, they've rubbed a few times, but that's a 2 minute job to adjust, work great.
I went over to Vittoria Mezcals (£10 on PX) earlier in the summer, nice and fast, and comfortable. Even work ok when there's a bit of mud.

Cheers both, will check the Vittorias out too.
I usually run a more 'trail' oriented tyre like the Nics or Ardents, but for a 24hr, I'd like something reasonably light & fast, whilst not fragile.

Avids were grouchy but I considered the Guide and Code brakes as a complete departure from legacy avid stuff. Ho hum.

Rock Razor / Magic Mary combo, obvs.

Super-gravity versions ordered.

Only issue with Vittorias is my 2.1s come up a bit small, a lot smaller than the 2.1 Small Block 8s that they replaced.

I'd likely use them on 25mm internal rims, so don't know how much difference that would make. Small(ish) is fine. Mostly don't want paper-thin sidewalls.

I used to take them off for the bin daily, older elixirs were the worst. But the "new improved" guide rs etc were still shockingly bad.

Yeah, I get that the Avid stuff just didn't really work, or at least, there were so many that didn't work they developed a reputation for being unlikely to work.
But the "new improved" guide rs etc were still shockingly bad.
Yeahbut, I have a pair that have been A+. Shockingly bad? What are you actually experiencing with them? Did you ride them? As far as I know, there's no recall on them. Google around and you get sticky pistons, but google for Shimano problems and you get a whole slew of problems, too.
Par for the course with the high volume sellers.

Sidewalls seem reasonably tough, tough enough that you can run them tubeless (according to the internet), though they're not the tubeless ready TNT version.

What size the racing ralph pls
-
• #11921
Should I get gum wall Ardents? Coz I want gum wall ardents.

2.25

£? I'm pretty sure the reason the one im using keeps going flat is becuase its not tubeless ready
-
• #11924
Tenner? It's tubeless but just the base spec. Worn but still grips fine. Got another with a slight cut in the sidewall you can have for free too.

I have em and they look ace. Not tubeless ready but they set anyway and held pressure for over a week now.
@PhilDAS PM'd re: cranks if they're any good to you... will have a rummage in parts bin for any other useful stuff.
