• #9581
people dont seem to use the forum to post their intention to come down. Same thing happens with peckham sometimes.
-
• #9582
In the winter it's very unlikely that people are going to hang around in the cold/rain/snow/wind hoping that other people will turn up, who haven't posted any interest on the forum
-
• #9583
You've all been warned now.

Yeah, it's amazing, it's like there are people that don't spend their whole time on the Internet or something!
It's one of the problems with lists on forums.
-
• #9587
We can start a list on a clipboard attached to the court if that makes it easier?
-
• #9588
just text beagle every time it needs updating,
he pretty much lives there -
• #9589
How about a clip board that is actually a web enabled tablet?
-
• #9590
Yeah, it's amazing, it's like there are people that don't spend their whole time on the Internet or something!
Dont be ridiculous. Fairy stories. Everyone checks this forum ten times a day.
It's one of the problems with lists on forums.
It causes problems alright, when you think a session might not happen... you might have four on a list and then people on the list back off because it doesnt look like a game will materialise, and stay in, but then all these other people show up.
I assume that people read here that there is going to be a session on, otherwise they wouldnt come down themselves... doesnt take too much effort to hit 'reply' and say 'in', when the forum is the primary method of organising real life games.

Yep, Margs thought this wasn't on so didn't go.
-
• #9592
Have you met lee and jp at souths kev? (admittedly they've not been there for a while) I don't think lee has a login and Jp has prob posted less times than he's been to polo!
It's one of the things I like about souths, no lists, just an assumption that there will be 6, and that assumption means there pretty much always are 6! I remember huddling under a tree in the snow last year and still having 6!
-
• #9593
S'not souths though issit, really...
-
• #9594
not souths and also neither Lee or jp turned up last night, so your point is?
oh and you know what they say about assumption…
-
• #9595
No, but you've got to ask what the point of the list is. And is it functioning, form follows function and all that.
Lists are very useful for the northies who seem to have four nights of polo to choose from and as many courts, so you need to check the forum to know where polo is.
That's not the same south, Monday is intermediates at neat and since it started we've always had 6 (is that right?) and Tuesday is beginners at Peckham (which also has had more than enought for a long time?) and wed is souths (which has happened pretty much every wednesday with the exception of the lights being broken, since I started almost three years ago!).

tl;dr
Could we have the list the day before as well so we know to spin in or not.
Polo loves a list.

• #9597

Lists are shit and seem to serve more to put people off than any other function.
-
• #9599
i'd say that putting people off, has more to do with putting people off. imho
-
• #9600
There were enough people, just not on the list.
I don't think lists are shit, it lets me know if polo is on or not.
Spinning to work and waiting at polo when no one turns up is shit.
in for tomorrow.
