• Maybe, just maybe, those 'spineless' people want to play polo with each other and don't see this continual, arbitrary categorisation of players as life/death?

TBH I'd be happy if Monday became another regular throw-in night, this has been a bit of a failed experiment...

  • I don't even know where I'm allowed to play polo anymore.

  • how has it failed?

    It works really well...

  • I don't even know where I'm allowed to play polo anymore.

Thunderdome, anyone can enter the thunderdome

    wistful memories of westpolo

  • The spirit in which it's played thing is much more important, rather than a completely subjective ranking. You keep telling a player they're a certain level, how do you think they'll start to see themselves and how will that help their development?

  • I don't even know where I'm allowed to play polo anymore.

    You're welcome anywhere, coach...

  • Thunderdome, anyone can enter the thunderdome

Always kids there. Best court in London though (for 2 on 2). I <3 West Polo.

  • James, that's a shit photo of me...

  • Deal with it.

  • I don't know who anyone is anymore.

  • I don't know who anyone is anymore.

  • I got into a big fight with Brendan further back in this thread defending our right to a B-cat only night, it got pretty fractious...

Our right, since when did you talk for everyone else?

Not one of you fuckers had the balls to chip in with some support...

I did not and still do not support polo nights which exclude players of any skill level. That's why I never chipped in

So now some of the same spineless people have decided it's OK for a C-cat to join in and I'm an internet bully because I disagree with you?

C-cat? Who decides these ridiculous ratings? Weren't you a C in the abc tournament?

The reason you're an internet bully is more about the way you go about voicing your opinion rather than what it is.

    Would you like some elipses? … … … …

  • South Polo got catty.

  • Meow.

  • Or, we can not be dicks about it, and let a team game happen, in exchange for sitting out a throwin...

I dont mind too much if you put your 3 mallets together in a throw in game or two, but there are loads of other free days/nights during the week at Newington or Mitch, apart from Wednesdays, when you can have an unencumbered team night and get a lot more practice / team development in, without interfering with people who have come down for fun throw ins.

  • Every single player has A/B/C elements to their game.

If you can help me find a single A element to my game on Sunday, you'll make my week! :-)

I included you in those initial 'intermediate night' PMs, Sandy, so please don't give me that...

Anyway... This isn't a personal thing so please don't get your knickers in a twist, I just wanna play polo and have fun doing it... So what's the format? Everyone welcome, medium-paced polo at Newt on Mondays?

Call it whatever you like, I'm there...

  • Everyone welcome, medium-paced polo at Newt on Mondays?

    Yes.

  • In that case, Coach, can you amend the thread title please? Let's play some muthafuckin' polo...

  • Fuck off...

    You guys are fucking hilarious...

I guess since this is aimed at me I should probably voice my side in the open as well as answering pm's.

I think you'll find we did all chip in to support these sessions. I'm sorry you feel like you took the heat.

Incessantly digging at someone is bullying especially if it's got to the point where they don't even want to play the game any more.

I personally have more of a problem with players who just ride round really fast without any kind of passing or goal tactics, but there's no way I would tell them not to come.

I support that you're trying to keep it intermediate but you have to accept that there will be some grey areas.
What happens when the next person feels like they're not improving at Peckham, or an A cat keeps coming to B's?
The beauty of this sport is the community and encouragement.
Categorising people is ambiguous and a large community will never have the same opinion.
We should encourage people not knock them down.
It surely has to be up to the player where they want to play?

Because you included me in emails doesn't mean that I supported the idea. I replied once to your PM/s

    Hey guys,
Remember the awesome team nights we had at Newt just before the London Open?
I thought it'd be fun to try and do that again, playing in more evenly matched games is a great way to A: Have more fun playing polo B: Improve our game...
I've inadvertently left some people off this list (maxed out at 10 recipients anyway) so please pass on to anyone I've missed...
Good idea, bad idea? Tuesdays at Newt sound good?

"I'm up for these but can you take me off this pm as I'm getting yeaps of emails about it. I'm assuming we'll use the thread now anyway."

I, like a large majority of people who originally got the PMs regarding a monday night thought that it was a team night, like we had done before the open. If I had realised that it was going to exclude players, then when the thread first started I would have voiced my opinion regarding this.

If it isn't a personal thing why are you making it so, singling out individual players who you've decided aren't good enough?

  • Jesus, a whole page of bitching about cats, just play some polo and stop fucking fighting about who can/can't play with you. It's pathetic.

All this stuff about categories is totally destructive bullshit.

This is irrelevant now, Sandy, B-cat night is dead... And of course it isn't personal, I would've said the same thing about any A-cat/C-cat that showed up...

    Clear enough for ya?

Truth... Jesus, what an unholy shit storm... :[

  • Doods, this is cool now. Everyone has said their piece, listened to each other, and we've moved on.
