Anyone any good at making V brakes work? :-s
Tried new pads? Worked for me last week... Went from OuttamywayNobraaaakes! to Vulcan death-grip, just like that...

Ha Vulcan death brakes.
Pads are fine, the rear right-hand side doesn't spring back. Taken it off, greased it up, seems to move freely, set up brakes, played with micro adjuster screws, apply brake, pad stays on rim. Meh.

• #6513
have you tried putting them in the top hole?
-
• #6514
You got the arm sat in the top hole for max springiness?
-
• #6515
^ Fools seldom differ...
-
• #6516
Same hole it's always been. Will double check at lunch thoo. Ta. Defo top one for max spring then?
-
• #6517
Yup...

The other side is probably over compensating, you don't need much tension (and extra tension gives you RSI), just even up the tension for each arm.
Use the small tension screws to add/remove tension to each side until they spring back evenly... tightening the screw adds tension, undoing it removes tension, if you run out of threads or need to drastically add/remove tension you remove the caliper arm and change the tension hole you're using (as mentioned above).
Other possibility: Your pad is clipping the edge of your tyre or the water-removal groove on your rim and is causing the pad to "stick" in place.

Cheers y'all, much appreciated. It was running fine then the arm got sticky, lubed it up and it moved fine but not when set up. Will try moving holes and micro adjusting again.
Either way, I'll be in tonight possibly with poles to hand out, and probably as designated goalie with no brakes. -
