Yes blud.
I'll be there between 5-5:30.
Can you bring a ball? -
• #5028
Are the lights back? Do the little Chelsea urban achievers still play from 5:30?
-
• #5029
5:30 indeed. I have one shit ball.
-
• #5030
Chelsea footballers haven't been there the last two wednesdays, but it has been very busy. It will probably be hard securing one court, I doubt very much we'll get a second for any league action. Not sure about the lights.

I still have one of Emmets balls (shhh, don't tell him).
I'll try to get there earlier, half day today-turn up early-leave early. Simples.
-
• #5032
OK I'll get there early to, what time you thinking?
-
• #5033
I do not think there will be league action tonight.
-
• #5034
No Chelsea kids? Damn, will try and leave early then. I'm +2 so they will be two noobs. Hope you don't mind all.
6pm ish. -
• #5035
I'll try and get there for just after 1700hrs. But will be more specific a little later on when I know for sure.
-
• #5036
Hops, you still got my ball?
I might rock down tonight, it would be good to pick it up before WestLondon Polo on Thursday
-
• #5037
I'll pop by and say hi on the way home but no polo for me this week, doctor's orders... :[
-
• #5038
Its been so long since i played on a wednesday but now all my bike woes are over and i'll be DOWN!
WEDNESDAY! POLO! YEEEEEEEEAH! -
• #5039
Is this at the usual South's court tonight?
I'm finally getting my arse in gear towards getting a polo bike, as by the end of may I will finally have the time and money to build a bike, so I would like to come down and have a look, and maybe ride a couple to get a better idea.
If that's ok?

Polo was awesome last night. I <3 polo. I <3 south polo.

I disagree. :(
The noob thing on the other court sounded like a really good idea and my two noobs felt more comfortable with the idea too. However it's not going to work if well established players just run rings round them and don't give them a chance. It basically wasn't fun for anyone as established players were clearly bored and noobs got disheartened. They came away saying that it's not a good idea to put a team in the league instead of getting the polo bug as I'd hoped.
The games after the first one were a lot more enjoyable as it was taken down a notch or two, which gave everyone a chance and made it participatory and therefore fun.
This is precisely why there was a secret polo society, so I'm thinking perhaps it should be kept underground until a better level is achieved. -

That sucks Wicksie.

We're calling it a hiccup, and we will be back. I may not have a team now, especially if there's one league, but I think that's for the best. I'm just asking for a little tolerance and understanding for people at their first throw-in's.
-
• #5045
It's the same for everyone tho', Joni... They just have to chuck themselves in and get in the mix, only way they're gonna learn... They'll be back... ;]
I had my epiphany last week, can't wait to get back on a court now... Stupid old-man-hurty-back bullshit... -
• #5046
That's the point though Joe, they weren't 'in the mix'. The idea was to have the noobs on the second court, which does make sense if you're a novice, but if there aren't 6 noobs, and the established players amongst them just run rings round them, then they're going to get nowhere fast.
If there are only one or two noobs, then they're straight in at the deep end, but it does make sense to have them all together when there's quite a few.
Like I said, the other games were more enjoyable. -

thats a shame joni, but thats why we split the courts. Erin said she had much more fun because of that and i know i did. Dean played with me and adam and hardly saw the ball. So i'm confused. You say thats why teh secret polo society, but then when we split the levels into two, your complaining..? Am i missing something here>? I heard good things about both dean and marg from other people chatting.

I remember the first time I went to souths... hahaha.
First throw in with the likes of Brendan and Todd. Didn't see the ball once, got scared, fell off loads, didn't know where to be/what to do.
I think that the court split worked better than it did as a noob coming straight into Souths. The experienced player let new people see how to play, and lots of new people vs a few experienced people means there is more chance of ball time.
I dunno.
Eitherway last night was a good night at souths. Really enjoyed it, cheers everyone

3 bikes no fun.

I'm in agreement with the idea, as I've said, it does make sense. My point is that if established players are playing with the noobs, then they should give them a chance. This didn't happen in the first game, instead we (the noob team) spend 10 mins going round in circles, still not touching the ball. This was more frustrating that being 'in the mix' as it felt like we had the piss taken out of us, where as we'd have just felt like noobs if playing on the 'big court'.
Perhaps this was an isolated incident, and as I've said the other games were more enjoyable. I'm just disappointed that as a result of this, my team are saying that there's no point in entering the league. It probably is a fair point, but it's a shame to be feeling that after their first throw in's.
Anyone down early. Might be able to get there for 1730ish. Emmet?
