I went to Peckham every week throughout the winter. I just couldn't be arsed to go to Vauxhall very often when it moved there for the summer evenings.
Wednesday + winter = Peckham

the very first line of this thread is "Hi guys / gals not wishing to steal thunder from the beloved brick lane court but.." there was a very good reason for this. Diversity is the key to keeping polo interesting, most of us southerners make the 10 or mile trek to brick lane or north london on thursdays, to see other people and to get in a different type of polo. Your floating game has managed to settle quite nicely on a wedsnesday when there was already a polo night. I'm not annoyed that polo is being played somewhere other than south london, people can do what they like and telling me to go east dosn't fix the south london polo scene/night. I just want to encourage more newbs to come and play, get people started this winter the way most of us did last winter. Brick lane isn't really conducive to rstarter' polo, because of all the hanging around there making it nervous for newbs. Peckham is very encouraging, fast and diversive. I'm perfectly happy to play polo somewhere central too, but THIS thread is about south london polo, so don't muddy the water. Peckham would like to see the likes of everyone grace it's beautiful and picturesque car park, but if you can't be arsed to put the miles in, fine just don't come on trying to make south london somewhere more northern. Lee mate good to see you on the thread. Wibble i'll look forward to meeting you. Hops winter = peckham = cookies. Mike tramps get your self a flip flop whilst you re-jig that bike fella, it'll help ENORMOUSLY.
edit: also dt, aidan, and hops made the effort to peckham from brockley almost every wednesday last winter. Dave brought 6 mallets everytime and the three of them are who most people should be thanking for supplying mallets and balls when no one else had any and skill that upped everyones game when no one else had any. Brockley to peckham isn't exactly 'just round the corner' but these guys should now have to go further north or central, because of other lazier people? Sorry but i think thats BS.

Skoota, don't tar us all with that brush. I love playing south, it is a different game and for me peckham in no more difficult than vauxhall. But you are right about people being lazy and sticking to the north east court, it's never been a defined day and we do play a lot of the nights of the week which inevitably means Wednesday as well, this is a shame and to be honest I see no way to fix it during the summer months.
But winter is a good time for the peckham court, Yesterday we played until 8 and it was already dark. I generally finish work just after 6 which means maybe an hour of polo at most by the time I get to the north east court. By October when the clocks change it'll be dark by the time I leave work, Peckham is the prefect solution as you can play until as late as people can be arsed.
You can't stop people being lazy but hopefully people will realise how god your facilities are when the polo league forces them to come south to play your homes games.

I might be going for south pub crawl tomorrow... meeting 5ish waterloo opposite evans in pub I think. Might be a good time for organising regular polo sesh and meet you lot.

is there any polo this evening?
im in from chicago just til sunday afternoon. . .
my friend Braley is here for five months thoughwhere you be?
^^^ this is true...
[Home truths time]
the thing is this is going to be inevitable... When... and thats a big when, north of the river find a peckham equivalent. Im sure it'll get worse.(sad but tru)
IMO i think we need to find a central court covered, which brings the points of the compass together.
If any one wants to do a early evening recce. Let me know.
