  • not being content with 2 bicycle companies 'our Tone' seems to have plans for world cycling domination

    another dafoney venture

hey meester tony you wanna start company dat make arsepoke wheel dat sell fo fiddy dorra?

  • Seems appropriate, naming such a tin-pot venture after the Greek god of dreams.

    Dream on indeed.....

  • Would this be a good time to point out that his framebuilder/gimp took sixteen weeks to knock up a simple track frame with a shoddy finish?

  • what the fuck? what interest does this hack of a designer have in bikes?

  • Designers interested in bikes, eh?

  • Tony's business plans seems to be

If you though enough shit at the wall some of it will stick.

  • BRM Designers interested in bikes, eh?

    Hahahaha

  • Oh for fuck's sake. Someone needs to report this debutante to some form of graphics standards agency. Every site i have seen attributed to him has been amateurish at the very best.

    Debutante?

    Dilettante?

*–noun 1. a person who takes up an art, activity, or subject merely for amusement, esp. in a desultory or superficial way; dabbler

    adjective

    1. showing frivolous or superficial interest; amateurish; "his dilettantish efforts at painting"

    noun

    1. an amateur who engages in an activity without serious intentions and who pretends to have knowledge [syn: dabbler]*
  • shouldn't it be "More for us"!

  • He is head of design at Witcomb Cycles, the last bicycle maker in London, producing product and bicycle designs.

In 2005, he was appointed marketing advisor and artistic organiser for Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Trans History Month and in February 2006, he was elected as an executive member of the Southwark LGBT Network.

Also a cyclist, and road safety campaigner, he has been an advisor to Sustrans, the national body promoting sustainable transport and maintaining the National Cycle Network. He is a member of the Witcomb Cycling Club and competes regularly in road and long distance endurance events with them. His other interests include astronomy and astro-imaging. He is a
member of the Flamstead Society at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich.

  • how do you get a job 'producing product'

  • dunno,
wish someone would pay me for producing "product"

it seems a waste to flush it down the toilet every morning..

  • its says that witcomb are the last london based bike maker, what about ron cooper? and also what about that guy from brixton cycles who makes bikes?

  • Roberts are pretty big as well and they're in Croydon.

  • Brompton are in West London.

Do folders count as bikes? Those and recumbents, I never know what to classify them as.

    thanks

  • velocity boy Brompton are in West London.

Ha, cool, I didn't know that. Do you know where it is?
    http://www.brompton.co.uk/content.asp?p=24&l=1

  • I think it's fair to assume that Brompton DO consider themselves to be a bicycle manufacturer,in fact I seem to remember reading they were now by volume output the UK's largest bicycle producer, but I may have got that wrong, if someone knows better feel free to correct me. They're based just off the M4 midway between Kew and Ealing.

How on earth does Tony Malone think he's got something to contribute to bespoke/craft built bicycle manufacturing when he's so ignorant of it. I can understand someone overlooking that Condor still make a limited number of frames in London (I'm pretty sure that at the very least they still make the Galibier here), but how the heck do you miss out Chas Roberts? Who are, no offence to the Witcombs, these days the better known and probably more highly thought of, of these two operations. And yes, they are in Croydon, that's the LONDON BOROUGH of Croydon Mr. Malone. So no, Witcomb are not the last bicycle manufacturer in London and putting this disinformation on their website undermines their credibility as a knowledgeable bicycle business and further sullies their brand. Once again, way to go Tone!

Sorry I'm on a roll now, but as I understood it the Witcomb Cycling Club has only recently been constituted/reconstituted, have they actually participated in any road or long distance events, let alone on a regular basis. If not, is this just a blatant lie to bolster Tony Malone's assertion that he's as active and one would infer knowledgeable cyclist. According to his Wikipedia entry he's a member of the Dulwich Paragon cycling club, can't help wondering if they've even heard of him. He also claims to regularly compete/participate in Audax rides. I'm relatively new to Audax so not very knowledgeable about it but as I understand it all Audax rides in the UK are organised under the auspices of Audax UK, who collate a list of all participants and publish a points list on their web site for all riders reflecting the number of rides they've completed. Astonishingly Tony Malone is completely absent from their 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 listings. Er, draw your own conclusions.

  • Who is Tony Malone ? - I have not heard of him until this thread and the 'Tony Malone - Old Kent Road Cycles - his new venture?' thread.

More importantly what has he done to get people so exercised ?

  • asm Oh for fuck's sake. Someone needs to report this debutante to some form of graphics standards agency. Every site i have seen attributed to him has been amateurish at the very best.

you can actually complain about him to the chartered society of designers. As far as I am familiar with their regulations clients and consumers can report designers and push for their exclusion if they can prove a case of professional misconduct. Write to the secretary: Christina Martinez-Tsyrklevich Info@csd.org.uk
However it would be a difficult case to argue if the client is happy. I suppose the Witcombs are as otherwise they wouldn't let him move into their premises...

  • I am quite tempted to complain but somehow i don't think I could do it with any real authority.

  • Anyone ?

Who is this Mr Malone character ?
