  • Used Collect+ for the first time as couldn't be arsed with their terrible couriers. Huge box, one tiny bag of Haribo, I wished for more.

More annoyed that they sent me a pair of Kool Stops and a Zoggs Fogbuster lens cleaner rather than the two pairs of Kool Stops. Polite email sent with photo evidence (including the gobbled empty Haribo bag).

  • DX are specialist couriers for larger items. Were you ordering wheels or something similar?

  • DX text me at 9pm Monday night and then 6am Tuesday morning to say that they were going to deliver my parcel between 8am and 6pm on Tuesday. I waited at work until 6pm, the parcel didn't arrive. The parcel still isn't here. Why did they get my hopes up? I need my tyres, and my workmate needs the haribo.

  • DX are poo, sitting down next to the front door at 8am and I get a text saying "we just tried to deliver etc etc etc" when quite clearly they just hadn't bothered to even knock. sigh

  • It's been a while since I ordered from Wiggle, and I am a little disappointed with them. I ordered a load of winter clothings and didn't realise (completely drugged up from my hospital op) my order was over £100, so didn't add the £15 off voucher to the order. Emailed them as soon as I noticed it and BEFORE the order was processed, but they said they cannot and will not amend or cancel it. They suggested I am to return the whole box and place an identical order... Surly there must be a smarter way to deal with that? Or have their CS all turned into walking zombies?

I mean if the order had already been shipped, then fair enough, but they haven't even made the box yet...

  • From CAB website.

If you bought the item online, over the phone or by mail order

You automatically get a 14-day ‘cooling-off period’ when you buy something you haven’t seen in person - unless it’s bespoke or made to measure.

The cooling-off period starts as soon as you receive your order, and there doesn’t need to be anything wrong with the item for you to get a refund.

You won’t get a cooling-off period when you buy:

something that deteriorates quickly - like flowers or food
an item that was personalised or custom-made for you
anything from a private individual rather than a business
a CD, DVD or software, if you break the seal on the wrapping

    Use your cooling-off period

You need to tell the seller you don’t want the item within 14 days of receiving it. Once you’ve told the seller, you’ve got another 14 days to actually send the item back.

You can use our template letter to let the seller know you’re cancelling. Keep a copy so you’ve got proof you sent it.

You could also phone - but make sure you make a note of who you speak to and what was agreed. It’s a good idea to follow up with a letter or email.

Sellers must give you certain information when you buy something without seeing it in person. This includes their business address and phone number, and details of your right to cancel. If you didn’t get this in writing (they’re allowed to send it by email) then your cooling off period is increased even further, to a year and 14 days.

14 days is the absolute minimum cooling-off period that a seller must give you. Make sure you check the terms and conditions in case they’ve given you more time to change your mind - many choose to do so.

So fuck 'em. Cancel and re-order when the drugs have worn off.

  • They do provide you with a free return label so it's just in the inconvenience of sending it back.

Bit of a backwards way to deal with it like.

  • The problem is there has been no way to cancel it from my end pretty much since the order was placed, and they refused to cancel it, or to speak to a senior person to try and add the voucher to my order, which I am sure it's totally doable. My fault, yes, but still...

Magically, a couple of hours after I emailed them back about how unhappy I am and fully intend to return the whole box and take my money elsewhere, on a Sunday, they have now 'shipped' my order, so I am just gonna have to return the box once it's arrived... glad it's Royal Mail so I won't have to sit at home all day waiting for it not to turn up.

I wonder if this is a tactic some companies use - to mark an order as 'processed' asap, whether it's processed or shipped yet, so customers cannnot cancel or amend, as I bet some people just won't be bother to return their orders.

  • glad it's Royal Mail so I won't have to sit at home all day waiting for it not to turn up

That's true, my last two Wiggle orders shipped via Royal Mail never left the sorting office, despite RM's persistent lies about putting cards through my letter box. Not strictly Wiggle being nobs, except that they should probably choose their delivery agents with a bit more care.

  • Is it still true that drivers would write up a bunch of "Sorry we've missed you" slips and give to the posties on foot to delivery them with normal mail? My last few packages (not with Wiggle but still RM) either magically showed up by my front door or I would get a slip in the letter box with my normal mail, not even with a gentle tap on the door. I work shifts so I usually plan when I order stuff / tend to be home when I am expecting a delivery...

I heard that it's because they don't trust agency/temp staff with real parcels, so they just get them to deliver the "sorry you were out, it's at the depot" slips if they don't have enough staff on at the time (e.g. in the run up to Christmas). Only real RM postal staff get trusted with the parcels.

RM is by far my favourite delivery company to deal with, I recognise most of the local posties and never had a problem with them. Plus my RM depot is only half a mile away. DPD are getting better but it's still a lottery.

  • Both of my local Royal Mail depots have closed in the past few years leaving one in a random industrial park miles away. They also refuse to redeliver parcels to my local post office as it has a different postcode (even though it's 10 minutes nearer than the one with my postcode).

  • RM is also my favourite, I am their true VIP after having made countless complaints over the years, whenever I go to the sorting office, they are like "you again..." But in all fairness to them, shit only really happens during holiday sessions when they take on extra staff and they know it. If picking up were an option straight up, I would.

  • If picking up were an option straight up, I would.

    This so much.

I've no issue with RM or their operatives - dunno if we suffer so much with the seasonal employees up here - but I'm hardly ever at home for the postie coming so parcels often have to be left with a neighbour. At first the postie (and other couriers) seemed to spread the love, giving each of the 5 neighbours in my close a shot at taking in my parcels but recently they all seem to just go straight for the neighbour directly below me, probably as it's an elderly couple so at least one of them always in. The neighbour hasn't said anything but there's weeks where there's a parcel a day being left there (I do a lot of online shopping) so I feel like an imposition.

The other option is to have stuff delivered to my parents' as my mum's retired and so is in most mornings but to go there and pick stuff up I have to ride straight past my sorting office and then on for a couple miles more.

Wish I could just elect to have my parcels left at the sorting office and collect at my leisure.

Edit: According to this article you should be able to opt out of the 'deliver to a neighbour' scheme with RM. I wonder if doing so would result quite quickly in the postie leaving your parcels at the sorting office as default and just delivering you a card?

  • Wont help with anyone else but did you know about this?

    http://www.royalmail.com/personal/receiving-mail/delivery-to-neighbour

Stick this on your letterbox and RM should not leave your parcel with anyone or anywhere else. It worked for me until the sticker fell off... Not tested effect with the new one yet.

  • Didn't see this before editing.

It's a shame that you need to put the sticker up, I wouldn't like to offend the neighbour that takes all my parcels currently if they saw it.

I also suspect that being on the top floor and the top button on the panel at the door, the postie and couriers probably buzz my flat and, if there's no answer, buzz the flat below and don't climb the stairs to my door.

  • I wonder if there's a cheaper (but still secure) version of one of these: http://www.hippo-box.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=20&product_id=52

  • I just realised a Wiggle order I placed mid October is still sat in the DX warehouse, will they ever just return the items to sender or do I have to continually try and arrange re-delivery until the end of time?

  • I had the sticker up since the ran the pilot and they asked reasons why I would like to opt out, to which I replied:

    "I dont trust my neigbours"

  • Is there no way for you to talk to your neighbours to ask them how they feel about constantly accepting parcels and make a decision after that?

If they say 'yes, it's getting a bit much', you can still order the sticker without offending them.

  • Yeah that'd make sense.

  • It's an all or nothing solution that though.

Maybe they don't mind accepting the odd parcel (once a fortnight) from some other neighbours, but don't want one a day for you.

(We have the ultimate deterrent, no sticker required, 18 stairs up to our front door. Keeps most people away.)

  • Do they just leave your packages at the bottom of the stairs then?

  • Ha, no, our packages get delivered to the door as expected. But for neighbours packages the delivery drivers look at our stairs and pick on someone easier. Keeps chuggers and door-to-door salespeople away too.

  • Please tell me your stairs go up a green embankment. :)
