SimonC This is all quite Central / East oriented. If anyone has any good reccommendations out west (Hammersmith / Chiswick way) that would be cool. All I can reccommend are the Dove pub on the river in Hammersmith (great food, amazing banana crumble, but don't go on a Sunday because they take off half the dishes and add on a mediocre roast) and the greasy spoon / Thai restaurant melange that is The Hammersmith Cafe. Oh, and Cafe L'Arome in Cherry Tree Walk just off Chiswell St near Barbican - run by an Italian guy who never stops talking, very reasonable prices and excellent pasta.
The Gate veggie restaurant in Hammersmith. Best veggie in London, IMHO - not cheap.

As for cheap eats - Gallipoli on Upper St is great. Always used to go there for a post Castle climb feed.

Me and my missus had our first 'date' in there and we're going back on Sunday for our anniversary. Poor girl.

You know, there's a map section on the Places tab:

Gallipoli Again was always the nicest of the chain, but something weird has happened. The prices have gone up, and the quality of food has gone down. That's economic progress I suppose...

tomiskinky If you fancy something different, but well tasty, you could do worse that trying Hummus Bros.
They have a place on Wardour St and Southampton Row. It is top nosh, and fills you nicely.
Choice of fillings, drinks and free Wi-Fi too.Site aint great, but the food is.
http://www.hbros.co.uk/Also on Wardour St and on a middle-eastern tip, there'e the excellently named Just Falafs. So big and hot and good, you could almost forget they're vegetarian...

I was thinking about that - but it might swamp the map with stuff that people aren't really going to use. Is anyone really going to go to that map to look for reasturants and their locations?
Also, we're all lazy buggers. Except you :-)

Top-notch.Not exactly authentic cuisine-wise, but a great feed. Worth going just to meet Abdul (the head honcho).
Highly recommend the Lamb Tikka Jalfrezie Balti.

anyone tried the "as greek as it gets" near earl's court tube? turned up there last nite with a mate, we were on our bikes. as i was leaning my bike by their window, cnts came out and told us to chain our bike against the handrail about 10m away around the corner (but only room for 1.5 bikes anyway)...which meant we wont be able to view our bikes from inside. dunno what the big deal was...bikes werent in the way of anything or anyone. it's away from the menu at the window. and i was very careful leaning my bike on their precious window. and for fks sake, it was 630pm and no one else about! pricks...so we left.
pity...good food and massive servings. but just for being cnts...fk em. wont be goin there for a while. are bicycles up front such an eyesore!?
