Surrey was very sunny;
Imagine, if you will, a picture of me tearing up Box Hill in the sunshine.
It worked on my laptop at work.

So sunny access is denied.

Just had a call from a friend who has just met Dancing James while preparing for the Marmotte. Small world. Far too small for James.

its a terrifyingly small world, almost inverse to the size of your arse - which was actually discussed due to how easy it is to draught behind you (plus the added benefit of gravity pulling me towards you)
hope all is well, next year are we all doing Paris Roubaix?

Good luck for tomorrow, James. That's a man's ride you're doing.

Fucking hell. Half of that features in my home circuit. Hope you enjoyed it, those are some of the places that initiated my love of cycling. -

I did enjoy it. The only downer was missing gold by such a pissy margin. At least it gives me a good excuse to head back for it next year.. hopefully dragging some Rollas, lfgss along too :)

Ignoring the tri-athlon issues, this looks like an interesting late season event on 26 September.

Entries are now open for this event. It tends to sell out very quickly.

quick report on the Evans ride it Gatwick event:
route was good, well-signposted, lots of traffic-free miles through pretty nice scenery, far too many hills for my liking, though the 9-stone whippet that was riding with me seemed to be having the time of his skinny-ass life.
I threw in the towel at 60 miles (taking the split for the 'medium' route), leaving whippet and others to soldier on through the full 80, but I did enough to confirm that: Kidd's Hill is pretty nasty (thanks for the warning, Sam!), Ide Hill quite sapping, and it all started going tits-up on Titsey Hill.
great fun all the same - only slight downside was the lack of fuel/food at any of the stops, it's just water and ready-mix energy drink, so bear in mind you need to pack plenty of bars/bananas etc if you go on one of these Evans jobs.
also, there was a nasty crash on one of the steep downhill sections - one rider went too fast & wide round the hairpin bend on Chalkhill Lane, hit a car and flew over the top. amazingly, the rider walked away with a just a bit of a bloody nose, apparently, but his bike was snapped clean in two at the head tube. shudder.
'Enjoy' Kidds Hill.
