Velotoze shoe covers completely stop the water running down the legs into the boots. Not at all breathable, not the most durable, and fuckers to get on though.

I've just ordered some drysuit wrist cuffs (XL). Going to try them upside down as gaiters over the top of my winter boots. Anyone else tried this? Will feedback...

this year i am going to try the shimano xm7 shoes. they are fugly but claim to be waterproof.
my giro alpineduro suck water up from the ground (as do my terraduros) so hoping the full goretex lining of the shimano's will avoid this problem

It's ~19 degrees in my sitting room, I'm sitting here watching TV with my feet up and it's just been pointed out that my toenails are blue - this, to me, is normal. Apparently it's not.
A bit of Googling suggests that this is Reynauds. That explains why I have such trouble with my feet in winter.

I thought you knew you suffered from Reynauds, it was pretty apparent from your symptoms.
If afflicted my mother which was not great when we lived in Oslo.
An old friend had to be discharged from the army when it became apparent he had it. He only became aware when he was on exercise in the snow, he came back inside and got a cup of coffee and his hand suddenly started bleeding, it turned out he had probably cut his hand an hour or so earlier but the blood flow had been so poor that the cut did not bleed until he got warmer.
Fingers crossed that the treatments have improved a bit now.

I don't think there is a treatment other than "move somewhere warm".
-
• #758
But you just said it's 19 degrees where you are. Don't go outside.

I always knew you were a big Zwift fan Skully, but I just don't think it's for me, I prefer my cycling to be a little more analogue.

Specialized Defroster. There's a new Shimano one too.

Specialized Defroster
Great. I wear spesh now - size up?
EDIT: Have you got a link? all the ones im seeing are 2 bolt systems
-
• #764
I actually went down a size from my S Works, but other people stay the same.
-
• #765
Worn with normal socks?
-
• #766
Depends how cold it is. Don't size down if you're gonna wear winter socks.
-
• #767
Ok great. Thanks for that. Just need to source a pair for road pedals

have to say so far my shimano xm7 shoes have been great. a million times better than the giro alpineduro boots - which are really snug but leach water up via the cleat if you stand on wet ground. the shimano shoes have a complete goretex lining, so water does not come in contact with my feet if standing on wet surfaces.
if i was to want something more substantial i'd go for the xm9 - i am presuming the boot would be warmer than the shoe.

Any advance on the Shimano MW7 GoreTex boots recommended on the Audax rides thread?
-

I use the northwave arctic road shoes. Nice and warm but I wish I'd gone for the mtb version. They could be much better for walking and I need to walk from the bike into the office in them.

Dredge.
What cheap boots do I want for winter mtbing on flats? Looking at winter mucking out boots etc on eBay but most have a pretty heavy sole. -

Any interest in some northwave flash gtx boots, a couple of months old and only lightly used? They’re size 43 but come up big - I want to drop a size. I’m 43 in giro and sidi for reference, so I’d guess you’d need to be 44 in these makes for these boots to work.
Warm, waterproof and the gator thing does a good job of stopping water coming into the boot.

i might be depending on whether they fit. i take 44 in specialized but have never tried NW / Giro or Sidi. whereabouts are you based?
