Right, sadly it is that time of year again.
Northwave or Shimano, or another make entirely?

I had a catalogue though from rose.de who have their own version of a winter boot. I think it said in November they were going to have a discount on the boots, it might have be December but I think November. Unfortunately I though the catalogue out. With discount I think they were 110 Euro, postage from rose.de is about 6 Euro.
Keep an eye on it over the next month if you can wait to see if it drops in price, it will at some point over the winter.

Same shoes all year 'round with the addition of toe-warmers when it's deepest, darkest winter. -

I was looking at these at the Cycle Show:
http://www.lakecycling.com/mountain-winter-c-1_4_11.htmlWay over the top, but totally look like they'd last 3 or 4 winters which makes them not as bad cost-wise.
Apparently Half Pipe near Notting Hill does them or can order them in. http://www.half-pipe.co.uk/
They're available in wide fit for the bigger sizes too (not necessary for me, but seemed good that they cater for different sizes).

And I've also been looking at the new DZR shoes:
They look like they'll be a lot warmer than perforated Sidi shoes.
Not sure who in London is selling those yet.

A hole heap of info on those in the casual spd thread.

I get "corpse foot" when it gets colder, it has taken circa 30 minutes of running hot water over my feet to get the blood circulation back before.
So I'd like some warm and waterproof shoes.
The lake shoes/boots look very cool- I will contact half-pipe tomorrow.

I would. And what's more, I'd actually wear the advised footwear, rather than leaving it on fasteddy's drive.

^That's where I'm going wrong then.
I left two pairs of Bonts on Fasteddy's drive before I went to Newport, it was horrible riding in socks.

It's not so bad if you thread your straps through your sock garters.

I bought a pair of Nike Rongbuk ACG shoes a couple of weeks back.
Perhaps not the most sartorial sneaker but for a Gore Tex shoe a bit of a bargain. I've been in two downpours since I got them and am very pleased with my purchase. They're light, very breathable, totally waterproof and well made. I would imagine they're tricky to get in and out of clips and straps though as they have a very jagged tread pattern on the sole. Since I plan on riding my tourer with flats for most of the winter months this isn't a problem for me.

A friend who rides year round in Minnesota rates these highly and they get proper hardcore winters over there, so they must be good.

Gormley has just bought some hiking boot type cycling shoes and seems pretty happy with them, PM him if you want more info as I don't think he strays from forum 24.

True. But it just goes to show you that other people are too fussy.

Mike Whatever his name is who does all of the adventure racing in the states uses those lake winter shoes with a felt boot liner in Alaska too.

The only shoes I've ever needed to use overshoes with were Diadora Light Racer Carbons. The SIDI Dominators I have now have not let me down once, summer or winter.
this but the other way round..
