Sunglasses

Not winning any fashion awards here. But I use these cheapos, which come with several lenses. I especially like the yellow ones for riding in snowy conditions. Not so sure about mirrored, as I often like to make eye contact with motorists.

UV protection is not synonymous with polarised lenses - you just need UV protective lenses as a minimum.

True, but by wearing glasses with no sort of protection you're just asking for trouble, sunglasses are one of the few things that are really worth spending a few bob on for your health!

I hate sunglasses. They're shit. They make you look shit. They're not good for your eyes, whatever the manufacturers tell you. And they cost a fucking bomb.

Actually I quite like jayloo's ones up there. For some reason I can't see the super rare porsche ones that the OPer is trying to flog. Can't imagine I'd like them though.

Sunglasses trick your eyes into thinking it's darker than it is out and in doing so your pupils will dilate in an effort to process more light. By wearing unpolarised lenses you are dilating your pupils but you're not stopping any of the harmful UV rays from penetrating your glasses so in effect you're frying your eyes. If you're not wearing glasses on a sunny day your body compensates by squinting and therefore allowing less UV rays in... So the moral of the story is NEVER wear unpolarised sunglasses!!

what a load of shite. sunglasses with the CE mark (as long as they are not fakes) or Standard BS EN 1836:1997 will protect your eyes from uv (A and B) .
