  • DJ - saw in your other thread. 9cm any good to you? you can borrow it until you know. not sure if i can get to westies later though it is on the radar. but can bring to kingspin 2 tomorrow if you are going along

  • dj, i just go for the good ol eyes-bar-hub position. how far are you off?

hands on the hoods, arms at 3o'clock (or whichever position you'd be most comfortable in), looking at the front hub, how far is the bar forward?

  • unless you shit gold bars, don't actually buy your parts from cyclefit - they're not exactly cheap.

Not entirely true. When I ordered Phil Woods from them, they just went on the website and ordered the Phil Woods... they don't have a supplier status with them. But they didn't add a penny, so I paid regular price.

The advantage in having a shop order stuff (even if you could do it just as simply) is that the shop is who you have a relationship with. Should anything go wrong, should the parts be defective, should there be compatibility issues, all that stuff becomes the responsibility of the shop.

And in that single act, I shift the responsibility from an unaccountable (to a UK citizen) trader in the US to an accountable one here.

Cycle fit do this as a service... they make their money from custom frames, servicing, fitting, fitness related stuff, custom footbeds, etc. As most shops will tell you, there's no margin in 90% of parts and the web does undercut, so if you know that from the outset then you operate that side as a service to get the profitable business.

Cycle fit have always ordered whatever I asked for, regardless of whether they stocked it or not, and always at competitive prices.

  • Oh, and SJS Cycles were equally helpful. They've ordered parts at virtually no profit to them because it's part of a larger thing about helping you to get a bike together in the way you want.

  • did you get your money back on that stem?

that stem is with me for life fred!

  • ^yes, yes, totally agree, I have a lot of time for LBS's inc cyclefit. but ask Ved how much they charged him for his stem...

  • :)

  • I was hoping to make my debut appearance at Wests tonight but am not now going to make it. Hopefully I will next month.

  • 6.15ish for me.

    (and what stem was it?)

  • I'll tell you in the pub. Don't want this to turn into a shit-fight.

I am very happy with what cyclefit did for me BTW.

  • stix in particular, but everyone in general: sorry, had a bit of a ridey afternoon doing errands, not going to make it along tonight. Was looking forward to burning some rubber back home Stix, see you tomorrow anyway..

  • ved thanks for telling us in the pub, nonshitfightstyle.

good gathering at wests tonight, hosted, of course, by the everincapable murtle ;)

enjoyed the spin home and having ridden the polo bike a bit recently just relaxed into the old ambidextrous skidding. not really done that on my street gear before so was sweet.

    like sweet spot

good to see all. enjoying the indoor shenanigans.

oh and DJ's new whip is bad ass...

    ANGRY BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • Lovely to meet you guys. Just a quick question.

What the fuck is up with the drivers on Kensington High Street? When I lived in London, drivers in that area did used to be pretty bad, but nothing quite as vindictive, blind and psychotic as that.

  • There's Hard. Then there's I cycle High Street Ken Hard. That's West London sir.

Good to meet you (briefly) TSK.

  • Ved

"It rolls good with angry bee sound"

  • you need one of those!

  • Good fun folks. I'm sure I didn't have as many pints as I feel like I had though. I hate it when that happens..!

  • So... who's going tomorrow then?

I hear they'll be some clothing for sale, but this may be just a rumour.

Something to do with some milestone on the forum.
