eeeew, itchy and scratchy

The fit is snug, but they don't feel artificial. Somewhere between merino and manmade, I'd say. Thanks for typo spot...

And good points on sizing and fabric feel, I've added a couple of lines. It's good to get this feedback as I've only just started doing these reviews - it's nice to hear what you find important about different kit.

Well I ordered a Medium from Wiggle anyway. Used the £5 newsletter code (after adding some £1 brake cable to the order to take it over £50) and once the checkout completed it said a £10 discount had been applied instead.
£40 free P&P, not bad.
I wear a Rapha jersey in Medium, so will let you know how it compares in fit.

This would be really useful - thanks.

It says theyare made to have no seams, but the shorts have one right on the inner thigh (unlike any other shorts I own); this has caused irritation on rides >50 miles. Maybe my thighs just need to HTFU...
It's a shame because the fit is good, as is the pad.

Just received my L-XL bib shorts (thanks for the Wiggle link, someone - the Howies site is sold out of the larger size right now). As a tall man (6'7") with a 34" waist and a few pounds too many on the stomach, they're pretty much a perfect fit. Haven't ridden with them yet, but they seem super comfy after a quick try-on.
Maybe a silly question, but should I anticipate any nipple-rub from the bib straps? I can't really imagine why I would, but thought it worth asking.

The only time I got nipple rub from bib shorts was when the strap on my Assos (ooh, check me out) bib shorts was twisted, and I didn't realise until it was too late. Generally there shouldn't be too much movement there so you should be alright.

Finally got my Slipstream jersey after the plonker postman decided not to ring my doorbell and then leave it in the back of his van for a couple of days while I tried to collect it...
Compared to my Rapha Classic jersey in medium, it's a more 'racey' fit, hugging the waist, chest and arms. If I was a little more self-conscious I would return and get a Large, but I don't care - the black colour of the jersey almost hides my A-cup man boobies anyway. I probably won't wear my compression vest underneath though, it really is quite snug already.
Compared to the Rapha Classic, It's not as long in length at the front, nor is there any drop in the tail. The sleeves are a little shorter too. It's very minalistic and casual - Although it looks like a cycling jersey it wouldn't be out of place in the gym or worn when on a run.
The material is strange, when I first touched the jersey it almost felt like a light sotfshell-type material. When worn and stretched out a bit it feels lovely. I really like the subtle reflective material sewed into the arms and the stretchy rear pockets.
Anyway, It's really well constructed is well-worth the £49 rrp in my opinion. Cheaper on Wiggle (£43 with Platinum discount)

Yep, I forgot that when I ordered. But I used the £5 newsletter voucher anyway.

Rather similar to the Rapha shirts from a couple of years back

Mmm yeah, now you mention it, i notice that the Rapha shirts have two of those buttons that offend me so. Starting to look like the problem is mine.

Hurrah - seamless women's bib shorts are out at last: £59
But only one size: S-M 10-14

I'd buy some/more howies clothing if their garments didn't have the company name on the outside.

They do. I'm more interested in a shirt, a merino polo, (at other times of the year) a sweatshirt. All these things tend to have contrast embroidered logos on the chest and/or sleeve. Nevertheless i'm tempted by their light long sleeve merino base layer.

Considering the Howes jersey as a short sleeved option for summer commuting and rides where my negligee-like Gore one is too light*.
One of the Wiggle reviews said;
It is a warm jersey, best for spring and autumn with arm warmers when it gets cooler, but too hot for summer.
Any thoughts on this from those who've used it?

No, i wouldn't say it's warm. It's not paper thin, but has a thin back area to let heat out. Unfortunately the zip is only a half way one, but I rode it in 20 deg heat and it wasn't too bad. If you're riding in 30 degree weather then anything you wear is going to be too hot

There is that, but they look pretty boring to my eyes, and their merino is 20% polyamide.
i like the look of the kit,and seems well priced, be interested in users views
