RPM
how about wearing what you feel comfortable in, and not giving a fuck what other people think?I generally don't give a fuck what other people think, unless they're clients and are writing me large cheques, in which case I'll wear a Borat-style over-the-shoulder thong and dance for them, if it makes them happy.

Endura also do full length humvees which, like the 3/4s, are comfortable, pretty plain to look at - black without too many silly pockets - and tough.

Rapha, Endura, will check 'em out tomorrow, ta. Hope they make 'em in extra-pie.

Those rapha plus fours cost more than my bike...
-
• #10
According to the Rapha site, "our sizing is based on UK males and hence will be slightly larger than Italian or Swiss brands..."
Cheeky c*nts! And they want over a ton for a pair of shorts! No wonder they don't make full-length trousers - no fucker could afford them!

stuck with Borat's thong then..

just brought some chrome 3/4's from the states.
even with the shipping they work out cheaper than the rapha alternative, think velocity boy's got a pair and he swears by them. Will let you know what they are like should be arriving this week, maybe next. -

Ha ha - just noticed that it's an Astana shirt he's waving... I'm a bit slow.
He's clearly a cyclist too, judging by the tan-lines on his legs. Now I want a pair of those Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane shades to go with my fluoro mankini...
The peloton leaders have clearly just noticed him - do you think this pic was followed by a massive stack?

would've said it was hippo, but the guy is clearly running, so definitely not hippo! -
• #21
Yeah.. running is obviously for the type of people that like wearing mankinis in front of a bunch of men..

These swrve 3/4 pants are quite jolly - they have a cool phone poke and are available in several weaves for various conditions
http://www.swrvecycling.com/knickersMensCotton.html
Order them direct - still cheaper than equivalent in UK shops
Get exact waist as they come up big! -

A bit of a hijack (soz) has anyone tried (got) any of the endura Zyme shorts?
3/4 length come in camo (umm, too old for that) and grey?
All this and they fit the endura inners...

look up the Portland Cyclewear 3/4 messenger pant.
Longer than the Rapha 3/4 but with the same slim styling except they have a elastic stretch in thw waistband for us, um, non-whippet types.
$75, $12 postage and £11 tax (bastads)
Wore them to Brighton - good showerproof features and dried very quickly (except for the padded insert, but that's my fault for not having a mudguard) Just as comfortable as my Rapha pants.
the material of the Rapha pants looks better IMHO. I was wearing them when I fell over a couple of weeks ago, I grazed my knee through the shorts, but there are no marks on the material to show it went through a slide.

I've been known to wear those trekking trousers with legs that zip-off around the shin. They're smart enough to get away with in a meeting and the like.
I run my own businesses and use my fix to get around London to meetings, but can't really arrive wearing baggy MTB shorts with crotch inserts that stick out a bit and make non-cycling clients think I'm wearing incontinence pads. I'm bored of getting changed in the bogs beforehand, I hate riding in jeans (denim too heavy) and don't like those Rohan-type, combat-style 'activity pants'.
So can anyone recommend some lightweight, semi-smart, bike-friendly trousers that won't make me look like one of those wurzels off Tony Robinson's Time Team?
