I've got two Minouras. They've been in the same place for 10+ years and have held a variety of bikes off the ground as designed.

I have three that I don't use anymore. American made I think, they extend and do what they are supposed to. I did have one fall over once, but I put that down to my ramshackle old garage floor and soft ceiling more than a failing on their part. Here is a shot of a bit of it.

Free erection?

Having got almost everything on a wall now, I'm dealing with the stragglers. This means I need a wall hook for a bike with 80mm rims. What should I be typing into google? No pivoting required this time around.

I’m moving into a rented apartment next month. I can put bikes in the wall as long as I fill them in before I leave. The logical place for the bikes would be in the open plan sitting room/dining area and I’d like them to look good.
What bike hanging type things look good enough to pass as furniture to the uninitiated, if any? Something custom from DBR? Something else?

Erections are, unless you have to pay for little blue pills ;-)

I tapped into my staircase space to store some bikes. It wasn’t exactly straight forward to install but it worked out nicely. I took inspiration of bobble’s setup and added a rail.
There’s no assist or pulley system, but it’s not challenging the lift the bikes.

That is superb. Any more photos? Can kind of work out how it works - how do they lock in the up position?

Steadyrack?

Couldn't you hang it like your previous apartment to have them horizontally off the wall?

Possibly. That did look good, but I ended up stabilising the bikes with picture wire - otherwise they'd sometimes slip and end up at a jaunty angle.
I'd prefer something that holds the frame in a couple of places to provide the stability the pedal based system lacked.

That's amazing. Chapeau.

Wow this looks great, how does it work?

Ach, true, it was an old Viz comic joke about shed and fencing companies who always offered 'free erection'. Granted, not wildly funny but stuck with me from reading Viz in the 80's/90's

Thats looks like a domestic nightmare. It'd drive me nuts thinking I had to shimmy up the stairs because of a pole and bikes

pic 1 and pic 3 show one of the bike in the lower position. pic 2 shows the bikes in the stowed position. which are high enough that couldn’t even touch the wheel if you wanted to.
The stands are on a rail which go up and down and are locked with a pin when stowed in the higher position -

These look pleasingly minimalist, also look like you have to be very precise with your measurements before drilling the holes in the wall.

Sounds like right up your alley.

I've ordered some of the mounts and will report back - the seller is a really nice chap to deal with.

Anyone interested in one (maybe two) of these Minoura Bike Tower things?
They telescope between floor and ceiling and hold two bikes.

Does anyone have any ideas for a vertical bike rack that would hold the bike agaisnt the wall and not with saddle poking out ?
Imagine taking a usual bike wall hanger and turning it 90°.
Does that make sense or not ?Basically i have a small nook where i would like to hang a bike vertically but flat-ish against the wall

There seem to be a few variations on the extending pole that locks between floor and ceiling with cradles for a couple of bikes - Feedback Sports, Minoura and Topeak are the immediate ones that come to mind. Could owners (if there are any) venture an opinion on whether they're any good/better or worse than the others?
