I wonder what the lease says about installing one of those bike boxes here...
There's probably some clause about not being allowed to use a balcony for anything other than pot plants or some bullshit. One of those boxes would free up some space inside the flat...

Have a check on Screwfix, I got a tall one which isn't specifically for bikes, but does hold up to 5 hung vertically from the sides. I think it was cheaper than going direct.

Biggish, strong steel rings and S hooks for hanging bikes off - where from?
All the hooks I can find online look piddly. The rings will slide along a horizontal length of scaffold pole like a big bike wardrobe.

Pot plants ?

Moving house with limited garden space and need to house 4 bikes - was thinking hanging them might be most space efficient. Any chance you can share a link to what you're using?

Pretty sure it's this one, seems cheaper direct now though. I rigged up some OSB panels at the sides with single wheel bike hooks and I can just about fit 5 bikes including a 29er and 26er with wide bars. Getting the ones at the back out is a pain though. I made a floor panel from OSB too.

Thanks! Very helpful and surprisingly reasonable! Can imagine it's a bit of a fiddle getting bikes in and out but that'll do fine for me. Ta!

It's not too bad with the ones at the front tbh, also I ride 56cm frames and it's about at the limit for horizontal space required. I can get some measurements/photos later if it helps.

That would be amazing. It’s not a problem that needs to be solved for about a month. If you have time that’d be grand. If not I’ll pm nearer the decision making time. Thanks dude!

Double post.

Thanks - wondering if the rings are too beefy yet small, and the S hook is too small, but have found some elsewhere I think.

Giddy with excitement as I've been offered a "storeshed" tenancy in the council block over the road from me (there must be no-one on the waiting list as non-council residents are bottom of the pecking order - quite rightly).
It's about 2ft wide x 6ft high x 6ft long (not actually sure, never seen inside one). Big solid metal door with a yale lock plus a sliding padlock bolt.
I plan on sticking my commuting bike (along with wife's and daughter's bike). At a minimum it'll be the two bikes locked together with a reasonable chunky chain and then my commuting bike d-locked to the frame of the other two (for ease of daily access) but they won't be secured to anything else which is what I'm looking for clever suggestions for.
I doubt I can drill into the brick walls or concrete floor at all.
Heavy planter type thing? (Would probably take up too much space).
Anything else?

Big bucket filled with postcrete and one of these:

Hmm, that's an idea.
Concrete is 2400kg/m^3 so one of those 37 litre plastic buckets would be 90kg+ (with one of those ground anchors in it).
Still luggable into a van with a few people, but should put most people off. (The bikes in the store will have a total value of about £600.)
Also wondered about storing bikes vertically but that'd be an interesting challenge if I can't drill into the walls/roof/floor. I'm sure I could construct some form of internal wooden frame (got a load of old slats from an old bed) that I could then stick a couple of Clugs or equivalent on.

The alternative is a ground anchor drilled into the ground. You can fill the two small drill holes with concrete before you vacate?

Don't know how deep the concrete base is. I do have a Torc ground anchor that I never fitted that could be installed using bolts held in by resin:-

I'm guessing though that the whole point of fitting a ground anchor like that is that once fitted it ain't coming out.

We hang steels off of studs held in concrete by resin (Würth): once they're in, they're in.
And you'd hope the anchor is resistant to being cut...

Can someone tell me what kind of pedal hook I need to buy that will be compatible with Look Keo Carbon pedals? These:

Whatever the design, make sure it's made of carbon fibre. Think of the vertical compliance! The stiffness! So responsive.

Cycloc Hero should work with those without a problem and not foul them either.

I have one of these that you can have if you want to try it out. Can't see why it wouldn't work.

Was just looking at that one. PM incoming
Great thanks for your insight :)
