winston If anything this is likely to be the most female friendly cycling event you could go to....it's inside, there should be other women there, they get to spend most of the evening with you...apart from the few minutes you're racing.
Spending an evening with Hippy is not what most girls would think of a friendly evening, more of a harassed evening.;)

• #53
Friendly harassment.. nuffin' better!
Hump! I mean.. bump! -
• #54
weather's alright tonite...might be able to convince mrs to ride in. will there be secure bike lockup at the venue?
-
• #55
yes
-
• #56
Finishes at 1am.. gf has to work early tomorrow so she's probably gonna Tube while I ride in.
-
• #57
I'm vaguely up for this - need to see if Tori (other half) is as well.
If so, I'll see you there. Hippy & dogs I can spot on site but if anyone else sees a tallish white guy with a (pj-hated but easy for identification) mohican then come over and say hi :-)
If I don't make it, good luck y'all.

I'm feeling shithouse but I feel obliged to attend. gf is passing.
Can't decide if I want to put my body through the ride there and back or risk falling asleep on the Tube :) -
• #59
Surely the ride will be a warm up?
-
• #60
Blurgh.. stupid workmates and their stupid virii. Not sure about warmup, more like energy-sapping chill ride of doom. Or something.
-
• #61
I'll save you the trouble..

Which way are you going in mashton?
-
• #62
Hot lemon and whiskey in the water bottle, plus nice warm clothing.
But I know what you mean - it's not exactly inviting is it? Particularly when you bare feeling lurgyed.
I've got a feeling that Tori's going to want a cozy night in, which demands my presence. But, I will attempt the blag. ¨Well, Hippy off the interspaz board MIGHT be there and he is possibly contagious.¨ That should do the trick.

If I head in, I'll be riding along Theobald's road to Old Street (or, more likely, on the bus with Tori). I only live a couple of miles away...
-
• #64
off soon, see ya dudes there!
-
• #65
I hear the couriers won this time...
and the cycling weakly team didn't do so well -
• #66
and a forummer won the all-comers comp and set a new roller record time at under 20 seconds - good work simon [twosheds]
-
• #67
Damn, twosheds is fast. We've had well over 2000 people on those rollers and Simon is the only one to go under 20 seconds.
He said he was coached by his dad!
-
• #68
I think the post ride roll-ups are his secret weapon
-
• #69
It's coz he rides on the drops.. none of this riser business ;)
-
• #70
well he is a westsider....
-
• #71
I guess I have to move to the East now.. stop riding and start playing polo instead. sigh
-
• #72
Well, nice to see that the bar has been set low..
-
• #73
any pics from last nite winston/caspar?
great nite. the winner, is that the dude modelling rapha gear on their website? simon wouldve beaten him easily if they'd gone head to head
-
• #74
Simon rides in a way that contradicts a lot of what I have seen and learnt about roller racing:- Hands on drops & back arched, it must make him more aerodynamic I suppose.
But you can't criticise success, certainly not by the sort of margin he wins by........
I'm gonna try his methods and see ;)

Yeah,
Seb runs his own courier serivce, bycaboy.com, he's the model they use sometimes.
The messenger team was quick last night, three of the four of them posted sub 21second times.
Their shorts might give you a 10sec handicap.. :P
crowd goes boo hiss :)
