Yeah, I still have Berlin on the cards. Carbon footprint though innit. When is the Eurostarlightexpress gonna make it all the way to Germany? It's all about the beers anyway and Germans are in second place to Belgium but still awesome.
You can go to Berlin on the train in about 10 hours, not exactly quick but if you're flying it would take you nearly 5 hours door to door from central London to central Berlin if there aren't any delays, with the bonus of not having to deal with any airports which is a bonus these days. Journeys are getting shorter and shorter as well.
Some more information here.

We took the train to Berlin (and back) in August. Was great. Cost about £120 return. Lots of time to drink beer and talk shit with the people you're travelling with. And no flying BS.

It's in the works, although Deutsche Bahn might get there ahead of Eurostar. They're applying for a licence. Frankfurt-London will be first, but the next one will be Berlin-London. F-L is estimated to take about five hours at first, bound to get faster over time. Berlin would take longer, which is why it's taking a back seat for now. I doubt that it's more than five to ten years away, though.

DB tested their new trains (they were on show at St Pancras) which will be used on the London - Amsterdam/Frankfurt routes last month. You can already buy pretty cheap tickets from London to German locations on the DB web page (Special London Ticket or something) and use DB tickets to board. So the integration is happening quite quickly. I hope it doesn't take 5-10 years.

Yes, I should hope so, too. Experience tells otherwise but perhaps things really are changing.

My father didn't fight a war so that the Germans could come to London by train.
Mind you, a train would have made his journey to Germany a lot easier.

What's the name of the song that the crowd all spins their scarves to?
It starts out with a guy singing solo (maybe in French?) and then the tempo increases with music and singing..
They do love Tiesto's Traffic but it's not this, obviously..

My French is not great but isn't there a devious anti British sentiment in that song?
Not Berlin though! not trying to sell it, it just happens to be my new home though...so intend to make the most of it.
Only been to London, Ghent and Berlin sixes, just found Berlin to be a more comfortabe and enjoyable experience all round, travel, hotels and event itself....probably would have continued to go had it not been for the Koksijde / 6 day double-header which makes Gent so attractive.
