hippy I was.. until.. I thought about flying over there and dealing with airports with a bike and finding accomodation.
Now if I could get enough time off to ride there and sleep in a tent, that would be cool.I think all British entries might now have to be organised through an official tour operator. Which should make it ok logistically, but also a 'kin expensive undertaking.

Yeah, so I'd rather go riding there when there's not 8000 other monkeys with the same idea..

cheapest i found is just under £600 3nites, transfers, bike transport from uk...doesnt incl airfare. fkn expensive (with the mrs coming along +£350).
should be chocs all along the route...with an easier stage, every tom dick and harriette would want to do it this time round. ill think about it. have to do l'etape before my back trully gives in.

I wouldn't mind doing the Paris-Roubaix sportif.. there's actually loads more out there than just the L'etape.. it's just the most popular.

paris-roubaix is prob just as bad in terms of congestion, if not worse. imagine the build up in interest due to the every-other-year running of the event. how tight and slow would those lanes be! im waiting for a full suspension road bike for that one :)
oh, did a sportive this year that finished with a lap around a track...nice touch
yeh, etape cost is putting me off. been checkin out some granfondos, loads cheaper. not much details yet.
Yeah but it's the "team" time trial.. so it's the best group of riders, ie. the highest paid riders.
So smaller teams with one good rider can't do as well. That then hurts their one good rider's chances in GC.
So, fscking the team time trials off is a good thing I reckon.[/quote]
Yeah good point, I do like watching the time trials on tv though but you are right the individual t.t gives more of a sporting chance rather than a money money my team is rich.
