I need a front brake. Brakeless is a bit harrowing through central London.

What size do you need

Not sure? I had a Shimano 105 it broke.

Is Evans not an option?

It certainly is! It's been a long hard day. I'm only 2% capacity.

A Shimano Tiagra cost less than half that (about £13), I had it on my bike, it's quite decent or am I talking out of my arse here?

I have swapped mine out for a 105. The 105 appears a bit better quality to me - has more of a gun metal colour too which is easy on the eye.

Do anyone know when Cavendish will be open? I forget and I can't really be arsed to cycle back up to central London just to find out on their door (and their website isn't exactly up to date).

it wasn't open between christmas and new year, I wanted the date of when they'll open again this year to avoid heading up there only to find out they're closed.

Not to detract from the BLB thread, because they're great too, but I hear far too little about Cavendish Cycles, and they really deserve a little more fame. They always seem to be the nearest bike shop when something goes wrong on the Condor (once or twice a week), and the chaps who work there are very sympathetic to frantic and mechanically inept couriers rushing in, knocking over their displays, and demanding that they fix some complicated problem within minutes. Once they even lent me a courtesy bike, so that I could complete the four jobs I had on board while they rescrewed my BB. And, a few years ago, when I had just started commuting in a slightly wobbly fashion, it was they who patiently showed me how to pump up my tyres, and managed to keep a collective straight face whilst doing so.
And they have loads of really gorgeous frames, and it looks like they're undergoing a bit of a makeover at the moment. Perhaps I have a little bit of a bike shop crush...

I agree, especially on the always seem to be the nearest when things go wrong, perhaps they emit a fuck-up field for half a mile around the shop. Also cheerily helped me with really stupid questions of mine when I first started riding single speed as well as me grumpily walking into a fairly full shop and announcing 'Fuck this wheel in it's stupid fucking arsehole!! .....can you please try and change the inner tube for me' and them doing it in about 30 seconds flat thus negating my grumpy mood. :)

they always seemto have exactly what i need.
since discovering them whilst working down the road, i've nothing but good to say. -

Oh yeah and letting me take a £1200 IRO build for a burn round the block whilst they carried out a repair on my bike, proper sound!
