  • Nice to see that these guys are getting good reviews... I need a new local shop, BLB are too f*ckin rude.

  • loving the positive vibes in this thread... so refreshing :)

  • Hassanr is one, there's more but dunno what their username is.

I spend too much money in Cavendish. In fact, I think I spend more money in Cavendish than I do in - say - Sainsburys.

  • if i'm in fitzrovia i have to stop by cavendish, even if i don't need anything at all. they've been replete with sexy coloured japanese bits the last few times.

good works boys, feel the love.

  • I'm always a bit afraid when I go in there. Mind you, I'm always afraid when I go into any bike shop. I generally don't buy much stuff from bike shops though, it's too expensive and too limiting when you can go on the internet and get a wider range for better prices. As a result I tend to limit my bike shop purchases to emergencies, and they've supplied me with tyres on a couple of occasions when the tyre I was using has died on me. Most recently was when I was waiting for some gatorskins to arrive in the post, and they were able to sell me a second hand Bontrager hardcase for a fiver, which I thought was nice.

Out of interest, apart from that Velorution shop are there any other bike shops near there?

  • beward of Velorution, they´re racist.

another great bike shop is Bikefix in Lamb Conduit Street (near Holborn), they're great and are reasonably priced as well for service.

  • Racist? How so? Do they sell those nazi-style stickers which claim to be "independent skate" but are actually a secret symbol racists use to communicate with each other:

    No, instead the owner posts racist views on their website. Read more here;

  • hold on, hold on; Nhatt works there and she is not racist - the owner has posted some stuff which many people, myself included, consider racist but don't say 'they' as if the shop is staffed by skinheads

  • I've modified it Will as you are right.

  • I don't regret deploying my joke about the independent skate logo. Je ne regrette rien! It does look racist!

    holocaust denier :-p

And there's an Evans on Rathbone Place, just off Oxford Street, if you're desperate, or that way inclined.

  • ^ Evansist ^

  • They're lucky with their name, like.

Ah, of course! I always forget about that one, every time I cycle past it I'm surprised to see it there.

Likewise! It somehow seems like it shouldn't be there.

  • I went into evans today and got told what I wanted didnt exist (29.8mm seatclamp) even though I had one in my hand on Friday in cavendish cycles....they [evans] were even more useless when I started talking about brakes. My bike is never going to be finished at this rate! :'(

  • go to abduls round the corner, on cleveland street, for bright times foodwise.

  • i wish their sister shop, holloway cycles, was the same.
different demographic at holloway, lot of cheap skate commuters. all the guys are cool and are on here as well. they can get the same stuff as cavendish.

  • this guy went to Cavendish Cycles, look at his smile

  • one thing def sucks about cavendish: their web site. Absolutely crap!

  • And the fact they're not in London's famous East London.

  • And the fact they're not in London's famous East London.

Thats the best thing about them!

  • I've only just seen this thread, been away for a couple of weeks. but just wanted to say thanks for all the lovely things people have been saying. For those that don't know, i'm Alex; full time mechanic there.

The Dave Yates isn't for sale (at the moment). I keep thinking about selling it, but then i ride it again and remember why it's so great...but then, if someone made the right offer....?!

So yes, thanks again. And yes, the website/blog thing is crap admittedly, we need to get on top of that. And yes, come 4pm on a friday we get some drinks in...although it's purely just to make the customers feel like they're in a relaxed environment, not for our pleasure of course.

If you do pop in, remember to say hi...Dales description of me was pretty apt to be fair..."bike mechanic, goofy teeth and tatts". Nuff said.
