I have five in my big coat. The all fell off the back of Kanye West. Yours for a tenner?
Speedwolf: Welcome! Nice introduction there. It's an addictive thing collecting bike parts! There are some great threads on here about recently opened vintage shops. One in east london really piqued my interest.
However, the best place for vintage parts remains the Internet. Campyoldy.com is a great place, and ebay is also good.
Roberto/Jos have a stash (literally) of vintage parts. They're both forum members, I'm sure they'll get back to you if you drop them a PM. They're probably the cheapest (...well possibly) place to pick up a lovely steel track frame. If you have a little more cash, check out Cavendish Cycles - they often have a good range of cool frames.

yeah, get the gear inches down, plus watch some skids comps on youtube and check out the body position - theyre like as far out in front of the bars as they can be, while still touching pedal. i must admit, its a strange thing throwing your weight like your trying to face plant, but its the way, er, forward .
indeed the way foward. if you actually want to stop, lean back after commencing skid or spin wheel in reverse etc..

Much appreciated - thanks for the suggestions!
I'll keep my eyes peeled here for parts. I have a nice one from Brick Lane Cycles...but still really want to put my own thing together.
Cheers!

Bought some wheels tother day, came with a choice of 15t or 16t on the back.
What can anyone recommend for on the front, something versatile, but would enable few skids here and there? Its flat where I live.
thanks in advance

I think I can safely say, everyone would be in agreement that as long as your reverse gear is the same as your forward one everything will be fine.

42 x 16 gives around 69 gi and 8 skid patches,

what I haven't really figured out is if I have the same gear inches but a different set-up on chainring and sprocket would it be exactly the same for ease of skidding. Example: 46x17 = 73 or 49x18 = 73, both same gear inches but would the one or the other be easier to skid or would it behave exactly the same?

why why why
obviously the 49 would be easier to skid as you would have the ego boost from running a large chainring.

Be careful with that, my flatmate's just gone from 44/17 to 46/17... I think it's turned him mental, he pulled the windscreen wipers off a car that cut him up yesterday... He wants more speed too so getting a 48 on the front now... There will be carnage...

I chose my gearing for riding.
If I wanted it for skidding I'd go sub 50 GI
