doubt it would be rust, the races on the spindle don't look warn, but hard to tell on that pic.

Momentum I think that a Raleigh track bike would use standard English threading
Unless it's an O-L-D Raleigh track bike in which case it would use Raleigh threading.. 26tpi not 24tpi and wider shell..
BB Thread guide: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/bbsize.html#threading

That ebay BB is in fact a road BB, "68 ss" means 68mm shell, therefore Brit threads, and strada, it should be 114mm, loads of ebay sellers say their stuff is "track" "pista" but it ain't so.
I've got a few campag 68-120-P BBs including a NOS ti SR and a NOS NR, but they're not for sale!

So before I go out and bid on this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=200167444249&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=010
I take that this would be fine for a chain line on a 68mm BSC shell Mercian running 1970's record cranks and hub
-
• #34
The chain line will theoretically be 1mm out, but I would use it happily. Before you bid on that one, with shipping from the states, you might want to look at this http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/details.asp?D=P&Cat=BOTTOM%20BRACKETS&Section=BTBR&GenCode=CAMPBTBR0260 which is basically the same and will probably be cheaper

fark thats a good price, i got one for £16 on ebay. nice BB though, however don't come with bolts ;). if you need the campag tool to install, give us a shout.
-
• #36
odd as its sounds my family presently live in Chicago so states side ebay aint no bother unlike ribble cycles who have never managed to deliver anything to Paris at least not on the first attempt, god bless them, eh I have crank bolts but not the tool, can I get one off ebay...?

the-smiling-buddha tool..?
like this
That tool is for the new external bearing BBs. You would need this tool for the BB you linked to http://www.parker-international.co.uk/ProductDetails/mcs/productID/1699/groupID/9/categoryID/57/v/3598acc3-bab2-4d73-a3b9-d12767df02af
or this one for the newest centaur square taper BB http://www.parker-international.co.uk/ProductDetails/mcs/productID/2761
Isn't life simple!

Any comments on which tool for the Miche, will the BBT-5 work or not?
Not sure after reading this:

Just picked this Centaur BB up on ebay for 14 squid including PP to France
I got one of them tools in my tool box
So I think that we are ready to rumble
Hopefully the chainline won't look odd being 1mm out
I'll keep an eye out for an original 'pista'
brillant around here I really appreciate everybodies input

echo, echo!! :p
I saw that one pip, that is the style I am looking for, but I don't like what looks like rust on the bearing face, the C-record one went for $50 which was a steal for a NOS bb, thanks for pointing it out
