Hi Ed, I had (as you spotted) not a fucking clue as to which way I was going, I just wanted to find a route that didn't involve a 3 lane drag-strip.
I was wondering what was going on, I usually take the A217 up to E Hill turn into A3036 and then onto Marcilly Road - North Side Wandsworth Common and staying on it until Clapham Common tube.
Your bike looked nice- what was it?
It's the Elephant NFE.

Getting lost in London is a great way of discovering more city.

Just walk through the service door of any pie shop and its like a Manc Narnia.
Unless its a posh Pie shop and then you end up in Cheshire, screaming.

Big bunch of fixie skidrah on the Road between the Innie and the Outie circles in Regents last night. I would have popped by to say hello but my back was in agony and I just wanted to go home and lie down.

Many lols and that. Obviously it's de rigueur to hate on the ELF guys and this isn't directed at you specifically but...
They were doing laps.
Fast ones.
In a group.
Structured.
With rules and etiquette.
Obeying all lights and generally being encouraging to all involved.I've never done RP laps and I've spent a few quid on some decent bikes so I figured I'd have a go rather than simply posing. I went along and was made to feel very welcome. I was dropped quickly by the main group but I managed to find a couple of people who had similar abilities to myself and kept with them for a while. Encouraged by other riders and taking turns to ride at the front I managed 6 laps at what I think was the peak of my power output before having a pleasant ride to Brick Lane for a bagel where I chatted to people about gear ratios, what shoes they use, where to get waterproof arm-warmers, how much import tax to expect to pay when ordering from Japan and all the usual stuff bike nerds talk about.
Cool story bro, not the right place to post this comment etc
TL:DR - The videos they posted are a bit whack, style-over-substance, a bit too 'try-hard' and show some irresponsible riding so let's all poke fun. That said, they were kind and welcoming to an inexperienced newcomer and didn't alienate me or discourage me from participating again in the future on the grounds that they thought they knew better. Give them a break?

A random girl riding what looked fixed*
*drunk and riding other way means object may have appeared to be something it was not.

• #67143
Yeah there was a definite look of dasapproval in response
-
• #67144
obviously not fixed then... It was probably a look of shame not a look of disapproval.

Sorry, I certainly wasn't looking to poke fun at them, although reading back my comment I can see that it fits in with the other negative comments that have been posted about them before.
I've got no problem with those guys, nor with anyone doing laps and encouraging others to do the same. I think I spotted Duke's Dosnoventa in there too, and anyone good by him is good by me. I'm glad you had a good time! Next time it's happening I'll come down on the Mash and do some laps.
How fast were y'all going, for reference?

S'all good man. S'all good.
I'm not offended, I just feel bad after all the trolling 'cause they all seem pleasant.I have no idea how fast they were going but as a result, I do know I'm fat and out of shape! I'll gear up for the next one and try and push for more laps.
I think Duke's Dos' is still off the road after his crash. I'd guess what you saw was a Parallax that had been sprayed pink by it's owner (!)

Bugger, I wanted to have a closer look at your Graham Weigh, is it 853?
Moved out of Manchester when I was little and ended up being raised on the dirty backstreets of Wilmslow and Macc :)
My mum lives over by Chester now, but she's a Scouser so its home from home.
Northwich for you no?
