EDIT: apart from the Turing thing, as I I was always told it was the hassel he got from the authorities for being gay that got to him.

Tommy, I think you are correct. Turing killed himself after being caught cottaging, but after an interval in which MI5, who thought his being gay made him a security risk, put pressure on him, actually I think it was more of a class thing as ironically at the very same time Guy Burgess, Lord Snooty, Anthony Blunt, Kim Philby (though he wasn't gay) & their pals were working for the KGB.
