    Emasculated men >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    Oooo challenge accepted.

  • Is there a female version of being emasculated? Words escape me! Actually, I don't think there is and that in itself is sexist! 'Naturally, anything to do with female is negative when associated to a male in our culture'.

    Calling Oliver Schick...

  • I keep getting overtaken by wheezing old men on BSOs. I call it depressing.

  • Disfeminated? But what does that make you?

It's inevitable, you're just slower on foot than on a bike.

You're right, there isn't, because there can't really be--the word comes from castration; I'd guess it would at one point have been a euphemism. Its figurative meaning is probably later, 'taking away or reducing a man's (felt) masculinity'.

The gender stereotype of (physical or 'masculine' mental) strength as 'the' defining characteristic of a man's masculinity is easy to 'take away' in other ways than castration--by any act that renders a 'man' powerless, e.g. humiliation.

How would you 'take away' a woman's femininity, the operative gender stereotype here being not strength, but (physical) beauty? Beauty is a more complex stereotype than 'strength' (which in itself amounts to a few confusions), and it doesn't really work as easily as in the male case.

(I dislike gender stereotyping intensely and believe it causes a lot of completely unnecessary problems.)

Ha, that should teach me to rely on a paper dictionary. This must be a recent neologism, and not a well-formed one at that, with a near-tautologous definition. I would still doubt that it's a very coherent idea, as above.

  • Why isnt it a cyclical relationship? I.e. if an emasculated man is like a woman, shouldn't a defeminized woman be like a man?

  • An emasculated man is not like a woman, he is just deemed to be less of a man.

  • An emasculated man is not like a woman. He's just an emasculated man. It's not part of femininity for a woman to be castrated or humiliated.
