ok i'm starting to lose faith in my ability to lock.. a kryptonite D-lock through back wheel and frame, and a Hiplok chain through the front wheel and frame? what else can I do?! I am willing to learn but I'm running out of bits to tie down.

There's nothing wrong with your locking at all but what you're locking up is so likely to draw the attention of people I've seen trawling round these parts for bikes to nick the locks might not be the usual deterrent.
