Spotted a guy with a red jacket on a purple HHSB with black drops and a rear spokk caining it up Holloway Road towards Highbury Corner. Nice bike dude, you ride it well!

^^Schick has explained all this before. It's to do with the oncoming, right-turning traffic i.e. it's for your safety.
Twas same issue with the old one going north on Russell Sq; used to see loads of near misses as cars followed road round to left and cyclists tried to go stright on oblivious.
That junction is doubly dangerous because drivers approaching from the south and waiting at the lights have their view of traffic (including cyclists in that bus lane) from the right obscured by railings and a wall and anyone amber gambling has a massive distance to cross to avoid 4 lanes of N/S traffic.

For anyone who doesn't have the necessary attention span to actually read the Code, it is available on Twitter in bite size form:

Can we have a special thread for all the wisdom of the great Schick?
That would be brilliant, I would say even a sub-forum, only for him and whoever wants to be instructed about the terms and conditions of wisdom.

I normally get into work for 7.15am so spots are low.
But today I started late and had the absolute treat of a roll from Denmark Hill to E&C with andyp!
He is so bleeding dapper though, I felt rather shabby in his company.

No that's an even better spot!
Yes that was me, I was having a good look at your bike as I got the same paintjob from armourtecs for my roadbike as I liked your photos in the respray gallery.
Your girlfriends bike looks amazing for the money too - I've tried a similar thing in the past but ended up spending far too much.

Wow never noticed those signs I shoot through that bit all the time. You mean the bus lane that leads onto New Oxford st right?
I think it's this bit
The bus lane continues west as non-bus traffic has to turn south towards High Holborn. Cycling is not permitted in the section between Drake St and Southampton Row and the police regularly lay in wait to catch people. I don't know about the bus lane heading west after Southampton Row though - you might be allowed to cycle down there, although you might have to nip down Bury Place to keep heading west.

Nice to see you Sam.
But dapper? Really? You obviously didn't notice the Rolla cap that doesn't complement the blue jacket. And I had overshoes on.

1) The Red Mist himself, in full Brixton Cycles garb, trackstanding his Genesis like a don on Atlantic Road.
2) Woman at Tottenham Court Road crossroads being pulled over by the Police for, as far as I could tell, riding her bike correctly.

It's such a rare event for someone to be riding properly it would seem that they must have assumed she was acting suspiciously.

Me, huffing and puffing my way around town in a STINKING mood which culminated in me a) turning up for a meeting a DAY EARLY and b) realising I'd left my wallet at home meaning waste of time bringing my gym kit to work (no card no entry) and mostly being hungry today. HARUMPH.
Also saw Middle of Nowhere Matt who witnessed the aforementioned hump and someone who looked suspiciously like 6pt if it weren't for the bright pink HUMP style thing on his bag.
Also, the pillockton seems to have grown massive. I'm going to try and get up early and avoid the twats I think.

Wasn't me. Could have been my north London doppelganger whom Lola has encountered before.
I like the word pillockton though. That would describe what I was caught in this morning. -

Haha, I think you might be right.
It wasn't entirely clear what had happened before I got to the lights but basically there was a woman, standing by her bike in front of a bus whilst a motorcycle policeman shouted at her for 'being in the middle of the lane'.
He [Policeman] seemed to think that, at traffic lights, a cyclist should move to the side to let other vehicles speed away.
I kindly said to him that she was merely holding her ground at a busy junction and actually it was good practice.
He was pretty riled by this point but gave up on me when I pointed out to him that he'd do exactly the same [as she had] on his motorbike no matter what was behind him.
I think he actually said "Oh, WHATEVER, mate!", haha. -

What a cock. I've yet to meet a copper who isn't a bellend.
You're right, these signs are completely confusing and inconsistent. The ones above don't even have pedals or a chain: does this mean they only apply to balance bikes?
