Was it silver?
Do you think the bunch riding on the bumper of the motor might intimidate the driver into going faster? I'm not sure of the effect, though it did seem to speed up after the hill.
I personally wouldn't like to get that close, the driver wouldn't even have to brake in a diesel, just lift off the gas slightly and the whole group would be through the rear window. Nasty.I've given up using RP for sprint efforts, it's not ideal.
The silver one yes. There was a massive group then as the group behind my group had caught us so it was a lot worse than should have been, we also had a ton of non-dynos in there as well.
TBH in respect to the riding on a bumper I was at the front and we had a few meters behind - as close as I'd drive behind anyway, that plus we could see through the windows for anything in front of him. I don't think it was intended to be aggressive (hope it wasn't taken as such). Everyone is pretty aware as well.@BMMF in respect to earlier starts:
The 0830 start is already early. Winter it's 0930 and moves to 0900, etc.
There always a number of elite's and high Cat guys who go out earlier and are pretty much finishing by the time we start. The earlier start has been/still is being debated. Only prob is a large number of people are ot local. I live in Belsize Park and drive down (lazy I know) and getting to the park after even a couple of drinks Friday for then is a hassle. Alarms go foo at 0630 (which is seriously early for me ;O), but I'd be happy with an 0800 start.
Like I said I'll chat to Jason about the riding, and I'll ask what thoughts are about an earlier start. It's everyone's world, no one has priority here, I don't think cars should be banned (commuting for those living around Richmond, etc would be a living hell) but I do believe we should consider anything that makes life easier for others when we have such numbers. Perhaps staggered starts for groups. I dunno, it's not my place to speak for the club but I recognise the problem.

I was down there between 8am and 9am on Boxing Day, having ridden over from Old St, in minus 6 degree temps, and getting superficial frostbite on my face by the time I'd ridden home again.
With that in mind, it should be mandatory for all LDs to ride at least 10 miles before starting in the park, to be banned from there after 9am, and during the warmer months they should have to ride with a bags of ice strapped to their faces.

Some guy with brown hair in the neeew forum jersey at the junction with Brick Lane and Bethnal Green Rd - only saw you when I decided to turn right at last minute and you'd crept up behind me like a bike ninja. Did say ' nice jersey!' though. Saw you later at Euston waiting for train with other fixed friends. Hope you had a great day's ride! The new jerseys look awesome out and about.

Loads and loads of cyclists going up Tooley Street this morning doing (thank google) the Thames Bridges ride.
Great to see so many people out on bikes of all descriptions (people and bikes), normally don't see a soul on Sundays if I am working.
