two poloengers heading north up Cambridge Heath Road last night around 9pm. I said "yay, polo players!", my girlfriend said "squeaky brakes," and you looked at us inquisitively.
Squeaky brakes is most likely Snoops. Prob best not to antagonise with him after polo! ;)

He obviously didnt talk to them
No polo no talk

...Sad that youre not really on here, you ride a fixed like a pro and you were a gentleman to boot.
Probably wouldn't fit in.

Reminded me a lot like Smiffy. Both a pro on fixed and a gent

Had quite a nice ride in the rain today. Saw John H, then Wicksie and Doctor P in LMNH.

You looked pretty wet when you got to ours :)
Got that bike, should have it monday or tuesday. -

The Duell from NL?
-
• #33959
No, not that one, the seller still didn't reply.
Found something else, something very different :) -

I almost got killed today by a tipper, and it wasn't even in a dodgy junction.
Let just says had I not rode in the primary position with enough room to swerve and brake, clipped the handlebar on the rear wheel of the tipper almost coming to a cropper, the road would be painted differently.
really need to calm down.

Reminded me of something that scared me this week on the south side of Lambeth bridge, a people carrier/vauxhall Meriva type thing was turning left onto the bridge, but a tipper truck had changed lanes without noticing it and totally squashed it up the high Kerb... Thank God a cyclist wasnt there.

andyp on the way home tonight. My brain was elsewhere and my attempts at expedient home-getting constantly thwarted, making me an antisocial idiot. Apologies. Spinning was ace though.

Christ. How terrifying. Hope you've had lots of nice hot sweet tea and some calming company. Glad to read you're nothing more than shaken up.

City road tonight. A guy cycling along with a lime green arrospok strapped to his back. I can only hope it was the one for sale on here recently as the thought of there being more than one wheel in that colour scares me...

I have to be calm, otherwise I'll be a pretty useless cycling instructor turning up tomorrow to teach a trainee on how to get over her fear of getting hit from behind.
what bother me the most is that the HGV driver, despite all the peds in the surrounding area, the driver behind me and myself being in shocked at the incident, quite likely to never even realise how close he is to killing me and never will (he drove off before I get a chance to unhinged my bike off the railing).

Ed, that sounds awful. Hope your nerves are calmer by now...
In a week where I learned that the LBS sometimes get things wrong (shock, horror) I wasn't ready to face up to the fact that cycle instructors can get into bother too. Post some more details so we know what happened and how to avoid it...
I'm booked into cycle training in Lewisham...your experience has convinced me that this is a good thing.

Ed, have you considered cycle training?

• #33971
... Sorry, couldn't resist. Glad to hear you're in one piece

A few days ago I saw a lime green something or other with TWO lime green spoks on it. Beat that.
The funny thing is that the rider was a very mild-looking accountant-like chap with glasses and a reflective helmet. Couldn't work out if it was a practical joke or not.

Scary stuff. If they can't see RVs until it's too late, there's no way they'd know we're there. No fly zones around anything bigger than a ford focus people. Stay clear of those left sides.

Got an old fashinged DAS this morning, and obliged with a weak effort. Kings Avenue, you were running apparently for pleasure, got a fleeting glimpse of yer mug and half-recoginised you... morning, sir

hello to the nice bloke with greyish hair on the old ss who i rode with from around Holborn to Oxford Circus with yesterday afternoon. you asked "did you build that bike yourself?" but i wasn't sure if it was a compliment or a thinly-veiled insult.
also came a cropper at the mercy of a taxi last night (ironically after passing my driving theory test). he pulled out in front of me, to cut across Hackney Rd - i swerved, hit the curb and landed in a puddle. nice. apols to the elderly woman who heard me shout "PISS SHIT CUNT" as i hit the floor. thanks for helping me up :-)
Rode with a nice bloke called James (i think may be wrong so apologies if you ever read this) last night from MI6 to Nelson. Shot for the tip on riding your normal route home, it was a breeeeeeze once we got out of traf square. Sad that youre not really on here, you ride a fixed like a pro and you were a gentleman to boot.
