Him: Er. Er... Jump off?Oh dear..
Do you also ask every brakless rider how they'd stop if their chain snapped?

turning in to TCR.
and by that I mean she was making a turn on her bike, not actually morphing into a one way street. You indicated this correctly by spelling it 'in to'.

Older gent on a frickin' penny farthing, yesterday, about to head down Castlebar hill in Ealing. I hope his brakes were working. I was on the roadie and gave him thumbs up. Awesome.
That'll be Lionel. Interesting, and lovely, chap. Not on the forum. I'm not sure he's even in this century (or the last one).
Lionel is, indeed, awesome, and brakless.

No.. Because chain snap is rare (IMO that is.. I've only ever had one chain snap in 30 years of riding and racing bikes). Cable snap/slip is not..

Brave shows his age once again.
My road bike isn't exactly poorly maintained and I've had (possibly more than) my fair share of cable snappage. No chain woes yet.
And I don't have 30 years of riding experience. -

Age, experience... blah

• #32237
Raw power, strong hands... blah

I've only had chain snappage and no brake cable woes. But that's maybe because my bike haz brakless.

My brake went this morning actually, right on a roundabout. Cue a panicky skid round an Addy Lee van and all was well. Just took it slower on the way in to work from there. I'd have been under the wheels if I was riding SS
-
• #32241
Are you suggesting edscoble as an alternative to a front brake?

Are you suggesting edscoble as an alternative to a front brake?

@ Digger, that was me at L.B btw, in case you didn't recognise the eyes.
I did, you caught me singing; "I get my kicks out on the floor", because I rilly rilly do like.
You roll style styllee on the BJ!
I saw a distinctive rider at Tooting Bec (or was it Balham?) this morning. Looked like an echt messenger, rather than a fakenger. He was riding a Surly, with a homemade disc wheel at the rear, with a spiral painted on it.
He was bearded, and seemed to be wearing an old German helmet, and, most noticeably among his other clothes, a long fluorescent sock on the right leg and a colourful stripy one on the left.
