Fluff hopefully enjoying the tailwind out of Lewisham as much as I was suffering going into the headwind on way home.

Just now at 11.45pm a pretty young girl with hoop ear-rings dressed almost entirely in black apart from brown boots, sauntering across the width of Vauxhall Cross then wobbling down Camberwell New Rd, on a mid-blue fixie-skidder with unwrapped bars.
You're virtually invisible from behind and almost ended up smeared across the front of my taxi, buy some lights cretin-breath.

While I'm posting in this thread: Aren't cyclists persecuted and hassled enough on London's roads, do we really need to add to it by insulting and judging one another. We've all made bad judgments, ridden our bikes all over the place after a few pints, been caught without lights etc.
Empathy.

yeah but being told you're a cunt for not having lights from another cyclist (at the time or afterwards) is different from nearly being hit by a taxi (or any other asshole) who thinks you're a cunt for not having lights.

tuppence being thrown into the ring.
When travelling Spotted was one of the threads, that kept me connected to the forum, the lovely daily greetings and viewings of other forumengers, made me feel like I hadn't left london and helped put off any feelings of homesickness.
For a while it descended into a you're doing it wrong, you're shit, slanging match, a way of showing how much better you (the gloriously widespread you) were at everything from bike control to bike creation than your less beknighted peers. I don't like this. Yeah its nice to vent sometimes, but...
It all got a bit depressing. Personally if you get cut up or someone does something on a bike that you feel is dangerous, and potentially life threatening, best to have a word then and there, each one teach one and all that. Yeah you might come across as condescending/patronising and or just plain weird. But "anyone on two wheels is a friend" and its upto us others who have maybe more confidence and savvy to help out anyway we can. Point it out and they might think twice about it in future, say nothing and they keep going on about their merry I'm a cyclist way..
Anyway just like to say that reading about the people who I knew and didn't know making those connections across london town made me smile on a regular basis

"+1 "anyone on 2 whheels is a friend" so help out your fellow 2 wheeler
Nice one CB+1 saying that someone without lights had a close call with a taxi that she was entirely oblivious of is a friendly, and responsible, thing to do. Because if she sees this she'll become more aware and any other cyclist reading will hopefully realise just how invisible riders can be at night when dressed in dark clothes and on poorly lit roads. She's no idea how close she came to getting hit.
Point taken CB about what the 'spotted' thread is for but I found it deeply ironic that not only was she just spotted at the last second before impact but also that she didn't spot how close she came to being hit. Not particularly bright all round.

van uden, my post was not directed at you in particular, but just the general tone that has been rather accusatory over the last few months...
I'm not as confident that the riders that are called out, actually spend anytime on this here forum, and if they did, would recognise themselves from the descriptions given...
Best to state your case then and there.
as you were..

Sorry, I disagree.
Just because you're trying to kill me on your bike instead of in your car does not make you my friend. It still makes you a cunt.

i generally see more cretinous cycling than driving.
i thankfully rarely commute with the 7.30-8.30 hipster peleton but when i do it's the other cyclists who boil my piss. -
• #31467
^hipster peleton'; 'boil my piss' - choice turn of phrase, than man

A possible max crowe sighting going round the london wall roundabout on saturday afternoon.
Oh and the almost infamous luminous volume fixie skiddaaa bike with front spok locked up on endell street
Gah! Scrotes.
Meanwhile, on Great Dover Street at lunchtime, I saw a woman on a black bike with shocking pink bar tape on bullhorns, and pink tyres.
I mean the tape was shocking pink, not that it was pink, and shocking.
She was going East, & I had to get to Borough High St, so going the other way.
