Nhatt, I totally understand with an LBS, I'd be loath to lend stuff out willy-nilly, but not sure why a Halfords employee would really care if a spanner broke.
Anyway blah blah this is all a bit boring... Big 'plus 1' for joe_smith's moral of the story.
'minus 1' for catfood's bewildering blind person comment -

Well, besides the fact he could get in trouble..
But yes, possibly dull but two of my pet peeved in one; rudeness and entitlement. -

Last time I went to Halfords the manager point blank refused to lend me his car for the weekend. I shall not be going there again, I can tell you that.

Shut Sundays and the Canadian witch works there.

'fewer' is used for discrete variables, 'less' for continuous, so "one car fewer" is technically correct.

Just saw a beautiful light metallic blue track bike by the crossroads in Camden Town. Drops, brown leather bar tape, Shamals(?), Brooks. etc. Very nice. Chap had a Knog cap.
Nice bike, sir.

Either a courier or an A+ fakenger on Dalston Lane going down onto Queensbridge Road this morning, displaying the most ostentatious out-of-saddle pedalling style for the least actual acceleration I've ever seen. Straight styling.

ha! saw one riding the wrong way up a one way street, on a phone AND on the pavement this morning, thereby completing the 'do as i say, not as i do' trifecta. -

you should have asked him for a spanner
-
• #30599
I've tried that conversation - it led to a ridiculous argument that he was entitled to do things that the general public weren't.
And Brave, the ones in Brixton don't know one end of a spanner from the other. As the Witch will probably agree.

Are you saying that you have a disability that doesn't allow you to carry tools?
