Lol. It's true though. For all the facepalms and 'omg can't believe they only have one method of stopping their bike, lol, n00bs' etc, no-one ever makes the obvious point that it's PRECISELY as dangerous as riding brakeless/fixed.
I mean I understand that this isn't really anything to do with logic, per se - I know that pointing this stuff out is a way in which members of this tribe identify outsiders, but fucking hell. I'm just not sure where the payoff is, if there's a specific point at which we're all meant to high five and point sneeringly at a calliper or somethign.

Roundup:
Tibbs (can't remember forum name) at Southwark tube, again, this morn. Sup!Yes, and still no skid for poor old me.
Did you see the cyclist on cyclist collision aftermath on Blackfriars road, just to your left as you went past the junction. They both got carted away in an ambulance. Hope they're ok. Not sure what happened.

Front brak provide faster stopping ability that rear brak alone or leg brak alone.
Ok, done.

Stix in the City yesterday lunchtime just finishing a puncture repair by the looks of things.
Lynx in LMNH last night.
Some poloengers heading south east on the Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris on Saturday. I was at far too polite a cafe to shout "faire un dérapage!" at them though. -

No worse than riding brakeless/fixed imo.
I ride fixed/brakeless and always unclip my pedals when I'm going at a comfortable speed. To stop I let go of the handlebars and spread my arms as much as possible to create an air-brake. As good as any calliper I've ever used, and just as stable.
I tried riding standing up once. I fell off.

ting ting manifested itself from:

and stuck in my memory (though that link could be seen as fairly dodgy)

Aah, I thought I spotted a mallet - my adjustable stem kept adjusting itself so I had to progress at a snails pace. Will keep an eye out for you on the commute.

Queenstown Road al the way to Chelsea Bridge was a bit of a pisser this morning...
From Queenstown Road, turn into Ravenet Road and go through Battersea Park all the way to the Bridge. Apart from the Ringneck parrots it is peacefully quiet.
We got a live one! take cover!
