I need to change my commute; I can't stand the stress of witnessing the suicidal riding heading north into the bus lane at bottom of Russell Square.
Every other day someone rides up there hugging the curb and then just keeps going straight into the bus lane as the traffic flow goes left around the square. Today Spanish girl on a hybrid with Ipod on oblivious as a van has to do an emergency stop to stop from rolling over her. I was to the rear and right of the lorry in middle of the road and absolutely shit myself.
Tried to have a word with her about turning right across traffic there but she just said "I was going straight, what's the problem?" and I realised she fundamentally didn't recognise how the road layout worked.
The bus lane is also off-limits to cyclists, the reason being that the waiting slip at the bottom end is too short to accommodate both the length of a cyclist and a bus.
There are moves to make Russell Square two-way, but I can't remember where that's got to. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Dude yesterday on Long Lane up to Borough. Clapped out roadie, ghetto fix, no back brake, no bar tape, in FLIP FLOPS but a fucking monster helmet with ear protectors on it like some kind of flying helmet.
You seemed to absolutley not get that I was taking the piss out of you. It was quite funny to say 'I only cycle the sort of distances you can walk'... but why not walk then?! Weapon.

Spotted a nice fixie on OKR seen you a few times, i'm always a bit late. Dunno what the bike is, but has really nice rear seat stays that go into a one piece jobby, a bit like teddys mercian. Black frame white forks... hipster plaid shirt, no bag, no lock.

Got involved in a very stupid scuffle/stand-off/handbag fest at Angel junction this morning.
I was stopped waiting at the lights in the cyclist ahead box when I heard shouting. A motorcyclist on a big dirty rat bike thing had stopped in the cyclist ahead box, and from what I can work out a tall skinny and nerdy-looking hybrid cyclist must have clipped him trying to squeeze between him the bendy bus stopped at the line. The motorcyclist was gesticulating and revving his engine shouting "You touch my bike and i'll smash your bike!".The cyclist turned round and started shouting back that he shouldn't be in the box anyway. The motorcyclist then rolled forward and deliberately, but not desperately violently, whacked the cyclist's back wheel with his front. This sent the cyclist into bezerker mode and he backed up and assumed attack position (in that way that weedy people who've never been a fight in their lives do) with one fist drawn at shoulder height, away from the body pointed vaguely at the motorcyslist's helmet... I don't think he'd thought it all the way though to be honest with you.
Anyway I was watching all this unfold relatively unconcerned for anyone's immediate safety until the lights changed and the motorbike started revving up and trying to barge the cyclist out of the way. At this point I thought "Solidarity brother!" and swung round to stand right in front of the motorbike facing him. I noticed at this point that another cyclist who'd been watching proceedings had done exactly the same and was standing next to me. So there were now three of us standing with our bikes in front of the furious motorcyclist. He was still revving, swearing and threatening but at least he'd stopped trying to run people over. A few polite but firm, "What's your problem?"s from the assembled cyclist blockade seemed to take the wind out of his sails a bit. The lights were still green at this point and the traffic was starting to back up and honk so as the original victim/aggitator/whatever made his escape, we both peeled of and continued on our way leaving the motorcyclist to do likewise. I noticed he deliberately passed too near the fleeing cyclist as he passed him at the top of pentonville road but nothing that could be construed as a further attack I don't think. If i'd thought about it a bit more clearly I probably would have taken his number and reported him... but to be honest it was all a bit handbags at dawn. I don't think he really intended to anything other than intimidate and threaten. The contact he made although deliberate was also deliberately gentle (he was doing little more than barely tapping the cyclict) so all in all i'm pretty happy we (me and the other commuter) played it about right.

Got quick glimpse of colour and titanium outside the UEL on the corner of Romford Road which possibly comprised our beloved Multigroove.
Is it possible to spot him so far from his traditional hunting grounds? -

I go down that bus lane every morning. I know it's a shitter for cyclists who refuse to look around them and that technically it's not open to bikes but I always feel that the abysmal road service within it is Christ our Lord paying me back for my naughtiness.

Oops.
We've always argued that all bus lanes, including contraflow bus lanes, should be open to cyclists--obviously on grounds of best permeability for cyclists (http://www.hackney-cyclists.org.uk/permproj.htm), but also because of course in practice nearly all cyclists ignore such restrictions, anyway, and that can be hazardous if no provision is made for it, as in the case of this lane, where the straight-on movement is de-emphasised because it is not expected that buses will have any trouble with positioning and cyclists are not considered.
In this case, TfL were actually perfectly willing to allow it until the above technical reason became apparent during the design. As usual, of course, we argued for full two-way around Russell Square, but that wasn't done when the scheme was put in some years ago. These things are always work in progress. I'll check with Camden Cycling Campaign whether there's been any decisions.

i go through every morning. usually i am in the centre or right-er side of the road by the time i get to it, because the preceding stretch of sthhampton row is really narrow, there are always vans parked on the left, and the previous set of lights has another if-you're-going-straight-and-not-on-the-far-right-of-the-left-lane-consider-yourself-crushed feature.

I spotted ChainBreaker and reeen rolling past the Foundry yesterday at about 6:30 or something... Was going to shout, but, well... didn't.
Spotted a multitude of things:
A zebra
Then me not looking and pulling from the street into the cycle lane here, getting (rightfully so) knocked over by a guy coming down the cycle lane. Sorry man, totally my fault.
Finally Damo groping my arse on new cavendish street.
What a morning!
