Someone on a filthy grey/blue Condor by Borough Market about two hours ago who kept coming upclipped. I'm sure underneath all the dirt there is a nice bike screaming to get out.
I think I know the guy, a courier, fairly middle aged dude, usually got a rolly on. He unclips his left foot a lot, reckon he's probably got knee trouble or sumfink, and giving it as much rest as possible.
A couple of chaps in Chamberlaines this morning, One brakeless plug and a Specialized thingymabob. A guy on a plug bought a tyre and tube.
Dear customer
I leant you my OWN PERSONAL RATCHET SPANNER as we don't lend out workshop tools.
Next time you are in the area, can I have my spanner back please?
All the best,
Owen
Unbefuckinglievable. Especially to a proper old school biek shop like Chamberlaines. I got my first new (as opposed to cast off) bike there aged 11. I gather you've been lovely to my pal Flo buying a Pashley there. Good onyer.
Spotted this week: TWO curly hetchins, both black n chrome. One yesterday fixed, tearing a good pace over the Waterloo Bridge, then into the tunnel!? Madman.
The second, through Soho this morning, a gentleman in his autumn years, geared, immaculate Magnum Opus I think, with nice Major Taylor type bars. IMMACCULATE. In a suit. Loving it. Flippin' made my morning.
Also
Guy on a light blue Hobbs last week, fixed, stopped for a chat in Soho. Nice dude. Hello if you're on here. And so many other lovely people on bicycles ready to talk these last few days, the good weather is making a lot of riders pretty friendly. I love you London.

Quote, spotted in an ecolocal.org PDF:
*"We didn't use to have any brakes. We did cycle speedway then and you weren't allowed to have brakes on the track so we just used to go out and when we needed to stop, we'd put our foot on the ground and hoped we stopped in time. We made our bikes from scrap. Anything we found we made a bike out of. I did cycle speedway and dirt track riding. One of our tricks would be to cycle through Nonsuch Park at night. The first one of us would have a torch and the rest of us would have to try and keep up."

I love the Kingsway Tunnel, the best part is trying to get enough speed on the way down so the climb out of the tunnel will be easier.
-
• #26420
the climb on the way out is the best bit!
-
• #26421
I bet you love that Hetchins, innit Hoops?
-
• #26422
Don't think I've been through the Kingsway tunnel but I use the Piccadilly underpass a lot and love it to bits.
-
• #26423
The Kingsway underpass is nice on a motorbike...fast...with illegal exhaust cans...with Spaghoops in front of you
-
• #26424

It's got functional, modern cranks and a functional, modern saddle, along with the beautiful, soulful work of art that is the frame, so there's something for everyone.
yeah - how's that for timing?
