  • So the old party line that we are all supposed to go along with, that more cyclists = a good thing, is finally breaking down?

Not for me--it won't surprise anyone to hear that I love those days when I'm surrounded by other riders. And I've said it before and I'll say it again--I find 'nodder' discriminatory. Give people some time to learn and support rather than attack them. There's a dark period in the history of this country when a pandemic of avelopia (JFGI) developed and caused people not to cycle for decades. We have a whole lost generation to contend with. As the nation finds healing, the need for recuperative assistance is paramount.

Cycling is a social skill and requires sharing the street. If someone makes a mistake, do point it out to them gently but be prepared to look at what you may be doing wrong yourself. Obligatory comment: get cycle training if you haven't had it yet. You will be able to learn even as a very experienced rider, as the course assesses your level of skill first and then adapts to what needs looking at.

  • Someone on vauchall bridge at about 7 this evening you looked like you shouted something but I had some toones going so I couldn't hear ya!

+1. Much rather have 50 dodgy cyclists around me on the roads than 5 mopedists.

  • Guy with an orange Mercian going through Victoria park, my non cycling friend even said it was lovely

  • As the nation finds healing, .

Blimey, did you used to write speeches for Tony Blair? :)
I am only stirring the pot a bit but it's certainly true that the official forum line is that cycling is good but, er, there are all these sort of, er, wrong cyclists getting in the way, I mean, yeh, cycling is good, the important thing is that people cycle, don't get me wrong but, er, these nodders, I mean, you know, idiots, but yeh, no, yeh, more cyclists is good, yeh, definitely, er, but, er, you know, fluoro, under taking, RLJ, wobbling, big gears, hand signals, er, but yeh, obviously, cycling is great and everything, more cyclists, yeh, great, er, er, er.

twas probably me, was with my mate on some dodgy old mountain bike.

  • there is this spring adjustment where we have to get used to sharing the road with more cyclists, but i'd rather more cyclists on the road than more motorists any day.

  • Darling Ru - under the railway bridge in the mighty Herne Hill at 6.12pm - twas going to yell, but you looked focused on getting through the lights in your helmet and shorts!!??! - brisk!!..
    Have a nice evening babes!!

You should have hollered! I don't know that area at all and was kind of unsure where I was going. Turned out to be a good route home - not too much traffic, adding a couple of miles and the drags up Herne and Tulse hills to help start clearing the unemployment belly.

1st day back commuting - 1st spot. Kewl.

Noddergeddon is easily avoided by keeping off the main routes. Take a more scenic route in.

Also not working 9-5 helps. It can be a bit busy at 7.45am but an hour later is much worse.

  • Lady on a silver and yellow vigorelli on the OKR. Thanks for the tips on the chain tugs.
Can anyone else confirm thin tugs for a vigorelli?

  • Mr & Mrs Dammit this morning along Peckham Rye.
    Good day to you both
    S :)

  • Dude on a damn sweet red Niner on Stoke Newington Road this morning. Hello again. Those Phils aren't dirty enough. :) Think I saw Marky Boy (raw frame with a bit of colour, brakless) on the hipster highway. Polo-enger on the Strand. And loads of peeps riding like dicks. And loads dicks using phones whilst driving. Curse you all.

  • Morning DJ, considering I work round the corner from your place I can't beleive it's taken 4 months to spot you.

  • A lovely looking blue tarck bike pulling into my building's carpark in Battersea.

Tall matey on a black unmarked bike this morning, heading West on Old St.

Dude on a 'Colnago' conversion undertaking me dangerously over the crossroads in Shoreditch last night. Twat.

    And many, many more!

  • D.A.S. Souths Noob (I've forgotten her name) giving the bird to a motorist who swerved in front of her on Tooting high road, I then snuck up to her ninja style and patted her on the back, which scared the living daylights out of her as she had headphones on. I then also told her off for RLJing across pedestrians path - we then, however, had a nice ride to Clapham before she peeled off.

Not me I'm afraid - strictly Brixton to Westminster on the commute, unless that's the new hipster highway. In fact, more I think about it.......

    Anais, she's a spunky lass...

  • Ah yes, thought it was something like that.
She also has a penchant for riding no hands on busy roads.

  • Poloista pootling east along Euston road w/ front disc and Bern helmet around 9.30 this morning by junction with Great Portland St.

Aaah, a case of mistaken identity. Apologies. Probably just as well. His riding was a tad on the sketchy side. :)

  • last night 5pm ish someone turning left on to Atlantic road performing a perfect left hand signal. it was a joy to see and made me smile. :)

  • Girl on a white stepthrough frame fixie with deep vs on Paddington st this morning, wearing an anti pollution mask.
Good to see at least someone checking their back before pulling round cars etc.
