  • ^ The Embankment Peloton can be great fun! Plenty of miserable-looking roadies who love trying to teach trendy fixie skidders a lesson...and then get even more miserable when you royally whup them! Well, it happens now and again. Its getting colder now so less and less nodders around too...

  • +1 for the embankment. though if you cross over to the other side of the river you can do the same run to vauxhall death gyratory and then down wandsworth road (which is nice).

  • Aaah try to make it down Southwark Bridge road if you can - much nicer to cycle and there's loads to spot there. This morning I got some guy on a black IRO with purple rims, and someone on a beautiful Bob Jackson. Lovely.

Was it pale metallic blue? ;)

I'm going to be tweaking my route to avoid the bigger roads, and perhaps follow the river a little closer for the beautiful tropical views.

  • the embankment peloton is heavier the other way.
i'd go the embankment, mos def.

  • Had a little pursuit with a dude on a white frame with shiny shiny blue deep v up front and black rim at the back in Hyde park...that was fun!

  • Brett in Victoria Evans, nice to see you.

Not spotted Jimbilly in Victoria Evans because he landed a job in Brixton Cycles, nice one!

  • feel sorry for the dude that got stopped at old st, got a ticket by a motorbike officer
and i bust the red light there aswell lol lucky it wasnt like like a few mins early

  • Started my new job today, will be doing Shoreditch > London Bridge > E&C > Oval > Battersea and back every day, so I'm hoping for some good spotting. Saw shitloads today heading the other way, but was too busy trying to find my new place.

that's a good distance mate, as well as being able to take many different route as possible to get there.

  • He caught me up after London Bridge.

The bike IS fab, I have it dialled in just right for maximum slowness/stylishness.
Tim asked me tonight if I still had a bike for nailing it on, and I realized I really don't.

Not like I'm known for my speed these days anyways....small sigh of regret

Getting the bus is great for spotting!
This morning, on my protracted commute, I spot Nhatt looking FAB on her sturdy surly, passing Liverpool St. I was on a bus. I spoke of her to Mrs Skully, saying, 'oh look there's Nhatt, and um that reminds me Jimbilly will be starting at BC today, hope he has a wicked day blah blah' and then Jimbilly appears. Like the proverbial devil. Trackstanding at Shoreditch High St.

Later, I'm skateboarding down the fucking middle of Shoreditch High Street, wools rolls along behind me. You should have given me a tow mate.

Oh yeah saw a geezer riding a lovely blue EG Bates trackbike approaching London Bridge too. Anyone here?

  • Two guys riding fixed on the pavement by Brixton Skatepark.. one on a multi neon S.Marco Lo-Pro and closed back headphones.. Nice bike, but hipster tastic

  • Black Mercian with Phil hubs at Trafalgar Sq. this morning. I commented on it as we went around. Lovely bike.

  • Was it pale metallic blue? ;)

Ha, actually wasn't as nice as yours. But yeah, I'll keep an eye out for you - I've got white hipster rims now so I should be easy to spot. Safe safe.

  • Oh yesterday had a really funny encounter with a furious dilbert.

He was lurking near the barbers on the junction of St John's Street and Rosebury avenue, just shouting abuse at cyclists who jumped the lights. I stopped at the lights to let some people cross (some other cyclists, quelle surprise, didn't). He stood there shouting "Prick!" "Wanker!" "Prick!" at them as they rode past. I waited for the people to cross then jumped the light to cross the now empty junction. As expected got a hearty "Prick!" from the angry little feller with the glasses, umbrella and briefcase. I couldn't resist skidding to stop right next to him and asking "What's the problem mate?" We then had a little discussion in which I gave the usual boring responsible/considerate RLJer spiel to which he responded "Just don't be such a prick in future!" By which time i was stifling giggles... and added "Oh do fuck off." There was a pause and as I rode off he added "Cunt!" as a parting shot. But what made the whole thing more absurd is that the last bit of our exchange was carried out with me riding alongside him running furiously for an approaching bus. Made me giggle all the rest of the way into work.

  • Should have punched him in the arse.

This bloke's been doing this for years, sounds like he's losing it though because he used to only shout,"Blind or stupid?"to the RLJ'ers there to which I once replied,"You're a bit of both!"
    I think he's a little mad.

  • in dublin on sunday afternoon. guy on a nice bluey/purpley gazelle rolling along the liffey in the direction of dublin port. only spot in two days in the emerald isle.

then nhatt and selim in russell square this morning. also, girl on a nice red & white raleigh a couple of times between waterloo and russell square.

  • @ Jonny. Really? I spotted loads when I was there last month, that despite spending 90% of my time in one pub or another.

  • I managed a spot without leaving my house yesterday - opened the door to my boudoir clothed in my finest silk dressing gown and slippers, gazed down yonder stairwell to find the front door was ajar. A fuji track then rode past. My day was then done, and required no further fixie skidder spotting. I retired to smoke my pipe and read the periodicals.

But today; the wonderful Nhatt remaining bright and cheery at BC, and then, as if by magic, the hairy hunk of love that is JimBilly, waving from the dirty, greasy pit he now works in.

  • Whoever own this Surly Steamroller (lovely paintjob) at a location I cannot mentioned, please try and get a better lock if you want to keep that bike.

  • Really nice red colnago waiting at the lights on the north side of blackfriars bridge, about 1730. Sweet bike!

  • Nice colour indeed, it does stick out like a sore thumb amongst all the other bikes tho, it got that slight gleaming aura of new & shiny that attracts all the lowlifes.

  • It's locked indoor, so luckily didn't really attracts that much thefts, especially with two CCTV inside that building.

  • SoggyJames on Tower Bridge

  • completely forgot, Vello in Clapham yesterday morning - Salut!

Ha! I totally forgot about this. Seeing you roll down the middle of the road made my morning. It didn't even occur to me to give you a tow. facepalm! To be honest though I probably would have royally fucked up somehow and had us in a heap embracing the tarmac. Next time...
