On saturday I stopped and 'had a word' with an idiot doing the same. He was walking his SE something-or-other on the pavement and pedals weren't moving ontop on having no levers.
"Excuse me, are you riding brakeless... on a freewheel?"
"Yeah, I know..."
"But SE bikes come with front and rear brakes off the peg..."
"I like it like this, more hardcore" (his trashy blonde gf giggles)
"So you essentially have no form of stopping if you need to?"
"it's my life, are you the police or something?..."
"No, evidently, or I'd be writing this in my little book. I just want you and this young lady to know I think you're being a bit of a poser, walking your bike like it's a fashion accessory, and freewheeling certainly isn't 'hardcore' anyway, get a clue"
"Yeah whatever mate" (both laugh).
The movie Idiocracy springs to mind. Seriously I have no time for you if you take this view. I have had countless occasions in this city, where toddlers or kids have run into the road infront of me. It is not just your life, you selfish arrogant prick.
I seriously do hope and pray, a van or truck takes you out before a mother has the misfortune of losing her child over you looking "hardcore" infront of your shoreditch bitch girlfriend.
Seriously shit like this really gets to me.

If it was an SE Lager it could be the guy Jimbilly and I saw in Cavendish a week or so ago.....long story, but the guy (who had never ridden fixed before) had to have a bike he could leave with that afternoon - whatever they had in vaguely his size, whatever it cost, brakeless or not, as long as it was good to go, he was buying it.

Maybe he just wants one to walk around and not actually ride. I am seeing a lot of that these days...
