spotted a curryer this am on a brakeless black surly with risers, rocking clippless pedals and trainers, no straps, clips. nothing. speedily undertook me on the highbury/islington roundabout and left me rather dumfounded as he raced off in the distance weaving, dodging cars and skid stopping with deft accuracy. Whoever you are mate - full respect, you know yr shit. an amazing display of riding proficiency.
Sure it wasn't skate style spd shoes? mine look no different from trainers.

Some cunt shouting at me clerkenwell rd. I turned around and he had his fingers up at me. Thought he was having a go at me for rlj ing, was gonna tell him to fuck off when I realised he had shouted Do A Skid.
I didnt oblige.

no he was riding spd pedals with non spd trainers! - so even less to work with in the pedal department. Ive gotta add that to me it all looked like a really bad accident waiting to happen but he was riding with the sort of confidence that seemed suggested this was his usual setup.
I am in no way endorsing this type of riding, its just that it totally baffled me and twisted my brain!

I've seen people make homemade spd skate shoes, I think there might even be a thread on how to do it on here. I think you just cut into the sole to the right depth and bolt on the cleat fixing iirc. It baffled me though the first time I saw someone belting along brakeless with just a pair of DCs instead of sidis.

The girl on the green frame with gold bits, being spotted by a girl on a pink Brompton on Shaftesbury, about lunchtime.
Meta-spotting FTW.

Yes I do! Holler next time you see me - oh, and let me know who you are. I get all nervous when people know me and I don't know them.
