Soweto888 Even though I'm in tropical Glasgow, I want to play just this once. In the bike shed at Gartnavel General - to my utter astonishment - a rather new-looking Condor Pista. Selle San Marco saddle; tiny little Cateye lights; looks like it's singlespeed rather than fixed. All this detail is superfluous, cos I've never seen one up here before. Who's the owner, eh? They're bound to find their way to this website eventually. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that they make it to page 27 of this thread. :-)
Gonnae no do that!
I made the mistake of living in Glesgae for a wee while. My humble Honda lasted two years on one of the roughest estates in North London. Took less than a week fer the local Neds to gubb me wheels.
No way I'd leave the CONdor unattended in that dial-a-slum.
I'm only here fae the banter, bytheway...

Kowalski, this Condor was in a sturdy bike shed with a locking door, so the owner wasn't really taking any risks. I never really leave my bikes locked in the street, and when I do, it's only for an hour at the most. Nonetheless, I'd sooner lock up in Glasgow than in London. I don't think bike theft is as much of a problem here. The last time one of my pals had a bike nicked was 15 years ago. It was a Raleigh Mustang and it wasn't locked up. Whether I'm right or wrong about that, we certainly don't have tea leaves targeting fixed wheel bikes.
Where did bits of your Honda start to go missing?

Had a flat Jonny, but no tools. I walked about a mile to the nearest Evans, but it was shut, so I walked a couple miles more to work.
I left off early though, so was in no rush - nice stroll!

Soweto888 Where did bits of your Honda start to go missing?
I was staying in Cardonald at the time.
And I wouldn't leave my bike unattended for long in this city either...

Whose was the IRO locked up near the barfly last night? (track drops with black bartape). Were you seeing Supergrass there too?

Cardonald, eh, Kowalski? And I thought that visitors were drawn to the leafy West End. :-) It's hardly the worst place in the world, but you only need to walk down Paisley Road West to reach my top contender for that title: Paisley's scary. Depressing during the day and feral at nighttime.
There seem to be more and more locked bikes with damaged wheels up here, Hael. I reckon that would be worse than having your bike nicked.

TBH, Soweto, to my mind the only decent thing to come out of Glasgow is the M8.
I'm sure it's a fine city: circumstances very much colour my memories.
That said, a city that lives under the shadow of Sectarianism in the 21st Century really needs to have a word with itself.
If I ever go there again it will be too soon.

I think i've seen RPM's bearded condor riding friend. Much to my astonishment he pulled up at the lights right outside my flat in stockwell a few weeks ago. Saw him a week or so later on the strand, gave me a nod. or a frown, couldn't really tell with all the facial foliage :)
Today I saw yang's new colnago, would be very nice if he lost that frame pad! and got better wheels.
Today I also saw a HUGE 8X4 sheet of soaking wet plywood fall off the roof of the charing x-road annexe of saint martins. It landed on charing cross road with an absolutely deafening bang. Was almost too scared to look out the window. Incredibly no-one was hurt, but it did land in-between 2 buses smack bang in the middle of a pedestrian crossing!
Anyone see the sheet of plywood lying across the pedestrian xing island? It was still there when i left at about half 4/5ish.

@ASM. ;) Now thats a spot, what's all this pointing people out on bicycles when we have acts of god going on all around us.
I spotted a plain clothes copper, with vest, tattoos and earpiece eyeball two crack/skunk dealers as they made a swop outside kentucky and keep going as if his 'i saw that' glare was going to clean them off the streets, clearly had some cyclists to arrest for loitering menacingly astride their steeds making phone calls.
The dealers look at each other like it was the weirdest luckiest day in their lives. Then again Atlantic rd was completely cordoned off, so Pistonator was probly doing backward circles armed with a spanner. -

For the second lap, we put the hammer down and did a minute at the front each all the way round, which was hard work against the wind. Good fun and I can feel it in my legs now.

ages ago i was riding in the city near bishopsgate, and there was some building/ demolition going on and a guy threw a wooden door with a glass center bit, it hit the skip, and bounced off smashing on the road about a foot behind me.

sooo many people on a variety of conversions and flyers etc this morning along old street and clerkenwell road. too many dudes, but did spot another potential trixie chic on a light purlple narrow tube frame, might have been a conversion, with bright pink wrapped bars. if i had a pound for every flyer i saw, i'd have enough for 3 biegels and a coffee.
I'm looking, but I'm losing the will to live trawling through these threads. Why can't you ride a Langster like everyone else, eh?
