  • acupuncture?

  • shit buddy, didn't realise you were that bad. really hope you can get it sorted out soon.

  • Another day...another apology.
Bags are again on hold....as some of you know, i've had serious back problems for the last 7 weeks which have made working difficult....yesterday it took a turn for the worst and sent me to hospital where i had to stand up in agony for 4.5hrs just to be sent home with 6 diazepam...needless to say they did nothing....got home about 2am....after 30mins of sleep i got up and promptly felt the worst pain i've ever felt in my life....stood there clinging onto my workbench shaking like a shitting dog...ended up having to call an ambulance...few more hours pass....again more diazepam...some ibuprofen...some diclofenac....which again aren't doing a great deal.
I now have to register with a gp and get a referal for an urgent MRI scan on my back to see what's causing the pain.

Anyway...to make a long story longer....i'm unable to sew again...or walk properly...or do anything without immense pain.
As soon as i can i'll be back sewing again.
Sorry once again for more delays.

    Scott not scot.
    x

Take it easy Scott, Like I said yesterday call me if you need anything.

BTW get Emily making those bags.

  • BTW get Emily making those bags.

What a stupid idea - who wants a bag full of rivets?

  • Sounds horrible. Hope you manage to sort the pain relief out quickly and find out what's causing the troubles.

Take it easy, rest up and look after number 1.

  • shit man, get it checked out and heal up quick.

  • I hope you manage to get some proper pain relief and treatment soon.

Considering how much pain you have been in for the past few weeks, that must have been really bad yesterday.

Hope to read a post regarding your recovery soon.

Take it easy and follow the medical advice you receive.

  • Mate, that sounds awful... Hope you get it sorted ASAP, MRI scan sounds like a step in the right direction...

  • Sorry to hear that Scott, sounds fucking horrible.
Have you been able to pinpoint the nature of the pain?
Where is it? What brings it on? etc.
Just wondering if you could do a bit of googling and maybe find some causes/treatments or stuff you can try while waiting for the doc's opinion? There might be some stretches, positions I dunno.. something that would help?

  • Sciatica usually only affects one leg. The pain may be felt in the buttock, down the back of the leg, below the knee and in the foot. Such pain can be mild or severe; it may be persistent or come in spasms.
People with sciatica may also experience numbness, tingling and muscle weakness in the affected leg. It can be worse when you cough or move, and is sometimes accompanied by low back pain.

To minimise the risk of sciatica, avoiding sitting in awkward positions for long periods of time. Taking regular exercise can also help to reduce the risk.

I'm guessing you do a lot of that whilst sewing? I should take heed.. slumped over PCs (or bars) most of my life..

    Maybe trawl here: http://www.backcare.org.uk/

  • My only experience of someone having excrutiating pain like that from their back is from a slipped disc (it was my mum when I was a kid). She was literally crying from the pain.

It's rectifiable though, she had treatment from an osteopath and hasn't had any major problems since. I just hope you can manage the pain until you get it sorted Scott.

  • You want some liquid painkiller Scott? I've recently decided drinking+hippy=wrong so there's some bottles for you should you require it. PM me and I can probably stagger some over tomorrow.

  • you sew standing up? I says that a bit of an unusual position, for some reason I picture you doing those old textile machine from the 19th Century with children helping.

  • regarding sitting in awkward positions for too long...i sew standing up so its not that?

Do you have to lean over the table whilst doing this? ie. are you bending your back?
Have you had previous back injuries or previous cases of this?
What is your inseam and sexual preference? ;)

  • yo scott, you need something like a drum throne? would that help? height adjustable and spinny! weeeee!

  • Scott, so sorry to hear about all this. Just keep on at your doctors, and ride it out. I have a friend whose recently suffered terribly with lower back and abdominal pain, and it took many months before diagnosis got anywhere near close (he's not got what you've got – for sure).

Keep your priorities straight and don't worry about controlling perceptions of your business while this goes on. It's simply not a problem compared to you health alright?

  • Scott, this sounds really bad. First your bike gets stolen and now this... I really hope things will get better for you soon and they can get the scan sorted quickly. If not we may have to start a collection here for you to go private. (Remember you have to take out all the metal for an MRI scan).
Don't worry too much about the business. Waiting a bit longer just makes your bags more rare and precious.

  • So, here is a couple of pics of the 'Lock Sausage' in day and night mode for your perusal, prices and more info to follow from the man himself. Soon to be modelled on a Clefty near you..
