till it sells out.
Up here where cycling is less popular the bits hang around for months and often get discounted. Lots of stuff gets bought then returned in various states of disrepair.

Jersey looks quiet nice, but the warm weather's putting me off!

Picked up a repair stand at Aldi today for just under £30.

Sturdy or upside down clothes line?
-
• #207
Not bike-shop-standard sturdy, but still seems pretty good. Had a Brompton clamped upside down in it earlier without mishap.

If your local has the merino jerseys in I'd thoroughly recommend getting one. They're not overly hot, I wore one yesterday to cycle back from the pub once the sun had gone in and was cosy as opposed to sweaty.

I picked up a track pump earlier, decent quality for £6

The aldi/lidl pumps are fine for mountain bike tyres, but I have found that pumping up to road pressures is awkward and eventually the o-rings go from all the forcing.
cant argue with £6 but I would prefer that they charged £15 and sold something better.

Hoped to get some skids and gloves yesterday but only fluoro shite left

Picked up a merino jersey from Aldi Old Kent Rd yesterday. They still had a few in size L, 42 chest. Pretty nice actually.

https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/sunday-specialbuys-7th-july/product-detail/ps/p/bicycle-repair-stand/I've got one, pretty crap really, does the job to some extent, but you can get a park tools for around £60 I think, which I would've got if I'd realised....

I have blown up 2 of these, and had the adaptor blow up on another. Load of shit. Buy a decent pump.

In contrast to the above reviews, I bought a merino base layer from Aldi about 5 years ago and have used it a great deal, decent quality, decent hemming/stitching.... I would say better than a on-one merino top I bought.

Just got a pair of the commuter trousers - not bad at the price. Unsure how long they will last but they're very light and fairly flexible. Fit me nicely at 32-32 and I've got more like a 31 waist + chicken legs so they might be a little tight if you have big strong cycling thighs.

I agree re: track pumps. Also gone through two cheapies and then stumped up for a Lezyne track pump, so much better all round

TM where can you get a Park stand for £60? Thanks
-
• #217
The stand is shit for anything other than small kids bikes. Just refuses to hold bike in place as the clamp is plastic. Going to see about returning mine

I just got given that park stand for my birthday. It's a good bit of kit and I suppose ought to be a once in a lifetime purchase. The only bit I can see failing is the plastic sleeve that regulates height - seems a bit flimsy
-
• #220
By the time that bit breaks you should know the height you prefer and be able to fix it with a drill and a bolt.
-
• #221
That's what I thought
Although I'll probably go in blind with the drill and end up drilling my own hand (using past experience. I needed to cut a bit of plastic the other day, so got out my trusty swiss army knife, and proceeded to slip off the very shiny plastic and into my very soft leg. Woops).

I don't think you're safe to be operating that bike stand, you should give it to me to look after.

ive been using one of those stands regularly (about 5-10 bikes a week) for the last year, its been living outside 100% of the time. really good for the price. could be more sturdy but then for the price its paid for itself 1000 times over. i treat it really badly and its still standing up to it.
worthwhile

park or aldi one?
-
• #225
I got the Aldi one - Really good value. Will stand up to anything unless you are trying to mount anything REALLY heavy in it.
Perfect if you're just doing a bit of fettling a couple of times a week.
Any idea how long they tend to keep this sort of stuff in?
