I actually don't wear a helmet when riding my fixie but if I was going to start it'd definitely be my BMX lid.

AlexS Just because you'll die in a helmet if a 10 ton trucks runs over your head does not make it a bad idea to wear one.

BRM666
photoben You mean Toad? God damn Mariokart is the best game of all time.
Post of the day, so far.
Purely my opinion, but Mariokart pulls Sonic's pants down and spanks it's botty. ;)
We can settle this in a mature way, I'm sure.
Mario 'n' the boys - II
Sonic and his ginger stepson - I -

How about just Sega vs nintendo?
Sega ftw.

I agree.
I think there are only ever a handful of games on every Nintendo console that are any good (Goldeneye, Mariokart/golf, etc). The good ones are wicked, though. -

When I fell off my bike earlier in the year and was pretty much bed ridden for a fortnight, I bought a nintendo DS and Mazzakart. Having that saved my sanity. And I'd happily challenge anyone to a game ;-)

Years of smoking the green stuff give me the advantage, methinks, your on ;)
P.S. Think you're round my way too!!

lol ... was about to say the same thing...but i suck at mario kart. i'll play you at tekken, or street fighter, pro evo!
more of a solo gamer ...metal gear, gta, FFVII, etc etc. -

I've a fucking massive head.. but I keep telling myself I'll get a helmet.
I look ridiculous in one. -

for everyone with a cracked helmet - ok, you might not have an indestructible helmet, but having that crack in your helmet it better than having that crack in your head.
and when i rode bmx those bmx helmets didn't help me at all. i really should have been wearing a full face helmet...hellooooo 20+ stitches from chin to ear, torn skin off lips, nose, and cheeks from sliding down a 5-foot concrete ramp on my face.

I have never had a head related collision on a fixed but also recently felt moved to go back to a lid, I picked up a louis garneau for ~£50 tt helmet, straight silver, looks slick and one of the only aero helmets that does not make you look like a tool or a spaceman. I have been looking for a hairnet but can never bring myself to shell out for one. I do find that in any helmet even a soopa light one like my old rudy project that I am less aware and do not hear as well which makes my riding less safe, seems like a wash in that regard.
Czech helmet is unreal

i like my giro flak helmet just fine, might be a bit heavy but so far it's served me well!

DO NOT USE THOSE OLD SCHOOL LEATHER HAIRNETS! they don't do very much to begin with, and the structure texture of them make it possible that if you get in a crash the hairnet will stick to the asphalt as your body pulls forward potentially snapping your neck.

Well thats a shame as I was thinking of getting one. I have bought helmets in the past, I wear'em once then never wear them again, I keep on saying I'll get one, was even looking at one in the shops the other day,
and hippies right the faster and further you go the more likely you are to fall, but is it OK just to say that I don't like them -

also, any older aero helmets are NOT designed to protect your head on numerous angles. i think they'll protect from a face first crash but that's about it. they're designed primarily for aerodynamics. the old ones tend to have a longer stem (?) in the back, which, can also get caught on something and snap your head in the wrong directions.
i'm not sure about the newer ones - i kinda want to get one though and go zipping around boston on my shitty track bike in full spandex and an aero helmet just to be "that guy" -

So let me get this straight, leather hairnet ones snap your neck, ones with spikes on the back give you whip lash and aero ones snap your head in the wrong direction, are you sure these things are safe...?

Used by one of the pro teams and it's under a ton.
