It's not a new observation I know but recently some girls/ladies.... yes you.... have taken to swinging helmets from bar ends whilst riding with headphones. Some....2...going home to E Finchley last evening. I found it excruciatingly difficult not to say something. I didn't.

I find it very easy not to say anything to them.

And you give a fuck, why?
People of any gender can decorate their bicycles with ornaments of any shape whilst listening to whatever audio entertainment they desire.
Being annoyed by it is about the same as being annoyed by someone overusing ellipsis in their internet ranting.

And you give a fuck about him giving a fuck, why?
:-)
-
• #6733
Because of their (you sexist shit) overuse of ellipsis. Obnov.
-
• #6734
Tbh I wasn't annoyed. Just worried about the impact of a fall on their ellipses....and their enoses, their echinses but mainly their ebonces.

Red bike. Blonde hair. White helmet. ?

I'm much more relaxed about that than I am about all the ones who wear their helmets like yarmulkes. At least the ones using them as hanging baskets aren't deluding themselves that they're getting some benefit from owning a helmet.

• #6738
Maybe they got hot, so took them off. Because helmets are shit.

Archway Road? 6ish. North bound?

I usually clip mine to a backpack strap. Much more stylish that way.
But seriously - most people have the capacity to make a judgment as to whether or not they should wear a helmet/headphones on a particular journey. You, not being them, lack a large chunk of the information that led them to make their decision. I do not think your contribution would be meaningful in any way.
-
• #6741
Yeah. I've seen her going the other way from Archway to Regent's St. Not very proficient at riding the bicycle either.

I more wonder why people do it. I can see it on a long ride with a lengthy uphill stretch or whatever but commuting through London surely you just wear a helmet or don't bother bringing it. (I guess there is a small number of people who are racing or whatever but the majority of those who do this don't strike as racing later in the day.)
-
• #6743
Maybe they plan on wearing it on their return journey from work/meeting when they don't care if it messes up their hair
-
• #6744
Sometimes I wear mine while commuting during rush hour, but then switch it for headphones when going home post-peak traffic.
Maybe work causes lady headaches, which are then exacerbated by the pressure of a helmet.
/pointless gendered speculation

I believe a helmet can make headphones uncomfortable depending on the type. On the other hand gravel embedded in the forehead can be annoying too.
-
• #6746
Maybe they just put it on for the last mile so their mum doesnt tell them off.
I got dobbed in once when around 8 years old by a neighbour who saw me riding around the local estate, helmet drapped over bars in a cavalier fashion. Mum gacve me a right earful when i got home.

Maybe it sits on the desk at work to appease the work colleagues and show them that they are a proper cyclist.
-
• #6748
And they can walk along the street and nod at other pedestrians carrying helmets. Like motorcyclists do when they ride past each other.
-
• #6749
Sometimes I'm forced to wear a helmet for work, so occasionally I'll ride with it strapped to a bag etc as I don't normally wear one for commuting.
Once or twice I've carried a bag of helmets, attached to a pannier or something, for other people to wear.
Probably should have worn all 8 of those helmets for added safety.

Elbows, wrists and knees are good places based on common cycling injuries. Not sure where to put the other 2.
it looks like a POV of someone going down on you
